Sincerely, Donte Greene (#28 pick, 6-10 Small Forward, Freshman, Syracuse) (one of only 3 first rounders that Morey has actually selected for the Rockets as GM)
You can also throw Batum in there. I should have been more specfic, I meannt to actually keep those players.
Donte Green and Nicolas Batum were both trade bait. The Rockets had no intention of keeping either one.
Batum was drafted with the intent of a trade, but Donte Greene was traded so we could get Ron Artest. He was drafted for his potential, and just happened to be traded early.
That will move other players out though Like Perry Jones, Terrence Jones, etc. I like Brandon Knight but we have a flux at PG
You are wrong. So are you. You are correct. Seriously, how so many people still don't understand the sequence of events from the start of the 2008 NBA Draft through the Ron Artest trade continues to boggle my mind.
I see what you are saying, great scorer, decent court vision, and a tall athletic PG, but in my mind Brandon Knight will be drafted before our pick, so..... Well if we stay at our current draft position, I can see us drafting Jimmer Fredette. No it is not the hype, it is just the fact that if you are THAT good shooting the ball you will be successful as a Houston Rocket (with RA), and both Bud and AB (last year), are examples of this. Is this guy the typical, "give me the ball I will create for others" type PG? No, but the fact that our offensive system relies on off ball movement, giving great shooters open looks at the basket without dominating the ball, gives Jimmer a higher percentage of being a stud shooter in a Rockets uniform. I am not even mentioning the fact that JF can actually create off the dribble with consistency, so there is no doubt that he has 6th man all over him, but if he develops his defense, and starts being a better facilitator he can definitely be a starter in the long run. Maybe I will sound like a dreamer, but I have a feeling we will move up in this draft, in fact, almost 100% sure about that. Not up to the top 3 picks, but in my mind I see us going up to 4th to 7th and try to draft the guy everyone was dreaming before this season started. I remember all the mock drafts and public perception was that Harrison Barnes was going to dominate and have a huge season, but after a disaster beginning, I can almost feel like he is now a "sleeper". I don“t know what GMs think, but from what Mock drafts are saying, there is no way he is drafted in the top 3, meaning, every pick after those 3, is more likely for us to get for a reasonable price of course. Having 2 picks in this draft (even knowing how short in talent this rookie class apparently is), might help us, but there is no way we get that pick without trading some assets, and maybe getting back some bad contracts. I know now, this idea of trading up "just" for Barnes will be disliked for 90% of fans, simply because they have been disappointed about his season, but seeing him play, you clearly have this idea, that this guy is only waiting to explode as a pro, but maybe that is just me. Pretty sure that DM has a more extended data on HB, then me, so no worries, DM will make the right decision :grin::grin: PeAcE
I kinda want us to do whatever we can to draft Perry Jones, I've been to some of his games, and he impresses me..he would also help with our height problems...doubt we can get him though
