Yes, this "most fortunate team" in football canard might be nice comfort but it's pretty hollow. Yes, they had close wins. But they also had a number of close losses (some prior to young taking over). they were a few breaks away from only having a few wins. They were also a few breaks away from having homefield advantage and a first round bye. That's the way football works. The Indianopolis colts were a few breaks away from total meltdown - now they are champions of the world. Unless you have an agenda that you are pushing - pointing out htat a team won some close games due to some lucky bounces is meaningless.
I can think of another team who had a few close losses where they were a few breaks away from having a .500 team or better.
I know because you're the first one who used this canard. If you use it enough you can turn the Texans into the Patriots or vice versa. Meaningless. BTW which participant of this thread said this last year?:
No. I'll just keep pointing out how moronic you are with this line of reasoning. Seriously, if someone came in and bashed the Rockets on this board, do you think it would be put up with? And I'm sick and tired of people acting like bad-asses behind their computer. If you truly want to stand up to me with a solid debate, it would appear there are get-togethers on this board. Show up or shut up.
I think you guys are discounting Jeff Fisher's contributions as a Head Coach. He's one of the best coaches in the NFL, which should make up for a perceived lack of talent at the skill positions.

In and of itself, it is meaningless. However, there are trends you can determine, such as points allowed and points scored over the course of a season, and when there's a pretty huge discrepancy (76 points in Tennessee's case), it tells you they probably shouldn't have been 8-8. Every team does have luck both ways, but in many cases it can be extreme given a small sample size, and you have to be able to look beyond simply wins and losses when predicting how it will translate to the future.
Ah, so not expecting the Saints to have made the playoffs last season discredits your opinion? In that case, pretty much every analyst on the planet is irrelevant... can't think of a single one that picked it.
I think it's amazing that his two best receivers were Bobby Wade and Drew Bennett. No offense, but neither of those guys are world beaters.
Watched an espn special last night. Floyd Reese and Eric Allen said the Titans are unlikely to win more than 8 games, given all of the talent loss.
