Cat, You have got to be kidding me...... Vince Young got Mack Brown a national championship....MACK "Mr. February" Brown...... Heck Brown had never even won a conference championship before Vince..... Vince Young is a once in a lifetime player, and the Texan's passed him up for an average to above average defensive end. So, they didn't draft a player at the MOST IMPORTANT position on the team...a guy who is a threat to score EVERY SINGLE offensive play.... BRILLIANT !!! DD
You give me access to radio program archives over the past five years, and I'd love to. I heard them plenty of times. I didn't necessarily believe the Texans that said them - I just kind of rolled my eyes, because they were the same happy feel-good quotes that every QB gets when they're considered the future and the team wants them hyped to the fans.
Glad VY's getting practice running down Defensive Ends after picks. He'll need it to catch up with a health MW this year.
i thought that was Reggie Bush. But you're right, there will never....EEEEEVVVEEEERRRRR be another once in a lifetime player.
Two things: 1.) What does winning a national title in college have to do with succeeding as an NFL quarterback? Should the Texans have looked at Josh Heupel, Danny Wuerrfel, Charlie Ward , Craig Krynzel and Chris Weinke this offseason? 2.) I didn't realize I was even debating or defending the Texans selection of Mario Williams. My post in this thread was merely to laugh at the people going nuts about the quotes from Brandon Jones, considering they're essentially a new version of the same quotes that every QB in the league has said about them when they're young and considered the future. Not that I don't like Vince (you guys know I'm a UT fan) - not that I don't think he's a good leader - it's just the source in this particular case that I'm poking fun at, that's all.
i'm not even arguing that Vince isn't a leader, but you're right...you get quotes like these on a daily basis.

Wow. VY is hands-down a great leader. How can anyone question how any of his teammates would like him? I'd follow him onto the field. VY is the one that got away. I'll always support the Texans but not drafting him will always be a black mark on the franchise.
Sidenote, I was upset when the Rockets passed on Alief Elsik's Rashard Lewis but I forgave them cause they have a track record and there were questions whether he would be good. The Texans should play in NFL Europe.
You should really just just shut up. There is honestly no need to keep up with this rant. If you don't like the Texans, sobeit. But I'm not going to take this kind of crap with you constantly saying **** for no reason other than to bug people. Did you go to Hastings? Goodie for you. You're more than welcome to move to Dallas or Nashville if you're going to be this upset for a year and a half. Move on, or move away.
I was actually thinking about Carr's HEB commercials when I saw your comment. I was aiming for humorous instead of a serious discussion. I don't quite have Swoly's panache with it comes to appropriate smiley usage. I do agree that leadership, mojo, and "it" are very tough to quantify. I would think VY would lead all QBs in the NFL in 1st down rushes on 3rd down and would do average in overall 3rd down conversions for QBs.
Yes, I'm extremely envious of the team who just lots its top running back, wide receiver, defensive player and special teams player and is set for a campaign of 6 wins or fewer. I think I've said it before, but anyone who wants to make a Titans vs. Texans tip jar bet for 2007 is more than welcome.
