Or if Nike or Reebok hands him a shoe deal like was mentioned in the Rivals article posted. It's all a matter of opinion
I could see a shoe company wanting to be the first on board with an American player in Europe.... If that happens, Sam's argument falls completly apart, so I hope it happens. DD
Yeah it's crazy, they should just let the guy play especially if there is no proof of him cheating on the test. Now if there was proof he cheated then I could see why they did that but if he cheated I doubt they would let him take it over. So the reg flag is probably because his score went up. Pretty stupid of the NCAA to do that but this is the NCAA we are talking about so I'm not shocked.
If he didn't cheat then he shouldn't have to take it again. This is just pathetic. Maybe he did do good on the 3rd test because he did take it he just didn't wait for the results. I guess he doesn't feel like dealing with the situation anymore.
The red flag is because his score improved a great deal. It is very believable that he didn't try on the first test (espcially considering he only needed a 530) and then tried on the second test. I agree with you though. Unless there is some evidence or proof then it's unfair to do that. Like you said though, this is the NCAA.
Have you ever seen the movie Stand and Deliver? If so, take that as an example. If they feel you cheated they think they have the right to make you take it again. It isn't like he is alone in being asked to retake it. There are probably several hundred that get red flags. His was a big deal because it means the difference between a big name getting to play college ball or not. Doesn't mean it's right, but it's the nature of the beast. Play by the rules or take your ball and go to Europe. I just don't think he's doing the right thing. It's just an opinion. The fact that he took it already means the test scores have to be out soon. Why shouldn't he just wait and see instead of taking the money. It can't be that long of a wait. It almost sounds like something else is going on, but without all the facts, at this point it doesn't sound like the right thing for him to do.
Interesting article arguing that what Jennings is doing is correct and that the NCAA is exploiting these primarily black bb and football athletes. http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/8327672
As I said before, the chance "to experience life in Europe" that may be appealing to most regular high school students is going to be largely lost on a guy like Jennings if his test scores and attitude are any indication.....
Looks like you have something personal against this guy. Would you have something personal with Lebron James leaving high school for the pros. That's essentially what Jennings is doing, just going overseas. And living "the nicest form of indentured servititude" doesnt even compare to the millions they made off of you. They might as well make your locker room look good. Come on maan. NCAA makes so much off these athletes and then says "well we give you free education. So does financial aid
Have you met this dude? Talk to him? Did he take something from you? How do you know what his attitude is like? He passed on the 2nd test. So he was smart enough to pass the test to get into the school.
His second test score was apparently pretty decent as he got red flagged. What exactly do we know about his attitude? I haven't heard of any off the court problems or read about any. He may be cocky but that certainly isn't a trait that isn't shared by tons of top athletes.
He knows he can start making money now overseas then stay one year in school for no reason. This idea probably had been growing over time and the situation pushed it over the edge.
I agree. This guy is getting ripped apart for nothing really. This thread has swayed from basketball talk to a combination of basketball and apparent anger and dislike for this kid.
Have you ever met the guy? Are you telling me he's going to Europe because he wants to visit the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona? Because he wants to take sip cafe au lait on a terrasse in Montparnasse? That he wants to examine Brunelleschi's herringbone brickwork on the interior of the Duomo? Signs point to no....
This is not a vacation for him obviously. It's different when you're calling his character into question without any evidence that he's a bad kid.
First OFF, since you spitting out all these places, you GOT to come with me when I vacation over seas one day so I'll know where to go. 2nd whats that have to do with the guy personally and his attitude?
It actually is a really good movie. It's the story of Jaime Escalante with a few changes for drama of course. Basically a group of students from an East LA high school who were known as under acheivers. Escalante teaches them Calculus and they all take the AP exam. Because of their past history and the scores they achieved on the test they were basically called cheaters. In order for the scores to count they all had to retake the test, some scoring even higher the second time.
Wait, crap...is that all there is to do in Europe, or is that just what Sam Fisher wants to do? There are lots of experiences to be had by simply BEING involved with another culuture. While he may not do the foo foo things you are describing, maybe he gets to meet some people in a pub he likes, and gets to experience some real European life......and not just touristy stuff. His experience may not be the same as yours or mine but it will be uniquely his....and he will grow from it. DD
