Atleast he has the swag of a champion. The kid is fearless and talented, really interested to see how he pans out after some maturing. And lol @ all the Joe Alexander fans judging a teenager based on a private conversation with a friend.

I'm glad he did it and we got to listen to it. It's GREAT to listen to these guys trash talk each other, sports would be alot more fun if these guys kept it real like Jennings.

Seriously, you've never seen 19 yo talking to ribbing/trash talking to each other in private like that? seriously? Maybe not about basketball but let's not act like 19 yo don't act that immature all the time.

Joe Budden? I'm generally fairly caught up in the pop culture to stay in the know, but when or how did this guy become relevant again? lol

Anyone who thinks that the stuff he said is outrageous and shows a lack of maturity is in the simplest of terms "out of touch." And I don't mean just with "today's youth" or something, I mean with just being a 19 year old and how you conversed with your friends in general.

Just because he went to a foreign country for a year by himself and played some basketball doesn't mean he should all of a sudden be a completely different person (one who didn't grow up with basketball as his life and in the middle of Compton). I would actually be a lot more disenchanted with him as a person if he came back and changed the complete manner in which he discussed with his friends. In other words, just because he talks to his friends a certain way, doesn't mean he didn't learn anything or grow as a person. If you think he should have came back and completely abandoned himself then you need to get over yourself and the idea you have created on how Brandon Jennings "should" be, to you.

Now that said, what is admittedly unfortunate and irresponsible is having such a candid convo with a friend who he apparently can't trust. But remember, the kid has been in the NBA (where his every waking moment in life can be scrutinized if it makes its way to the public) for all of 3 days. I guarantee the things he said are no different than the same things every draftee of every sport has said for the past 30 years....he just said them to the wrong person, at the wrong time of technological advancement.

Since you're obviously speaking to me, let me just say that I agree with you and the text I quoted above is pretty much my entire point. No doubt the blame for this fiasco is almost entirely on Budden's shoulders for recording the video in the first place (I would have hated for some of my personal conversations to get leaked when I was 19...or even now at 26) but one might say that Jennings should be more careful who he discusses sensitive information with as well, given the position he's in now and the way media travels so quickly.

I guess in my opinion, the ability to choose friends wisely is a big part of a person's maturation process, and I'm not exactly sure what kind of real friend would leak that video. So it's not that I have a problem with Jennings saying what he said (I'm sure plenty of draft picks have bad things to say about teams and players) but next time he wants to speak his mind so freely, he might want to make sure he truly knows the character of the person on the receiving end of his message. That's why I said it wasn't a smart thing to do.

Yes we all know this is a normal convo between to two friends which is fine if it is private. But you can't let this leak out because Brandon Jennings needs to keep a good image. As sad as this sound but a convo like this can hurt his marketability. Now if I don't know if he knew the convo would leak but Joe Buddens has this thing that is called "Joe Buddens TV" and he always put it up on Youtube. Before the draft on Twitter Brandon Jennings was telling Joe Buddens he wanted to be on Joe Buddens TV.

Say what you will--it's going to be interesting to see how the veterans Jennings talked smack about react to him. See how much Ridnour likes and wants to help Jennings develop now.

Everything this kid has done has made him seem like a grade A d-bag so far. From his Rubio comments to showing up late for the draft because he wasn't sure he was going to get picked in the lottery  to this. He may be young but that doesn't give you the right to be an ass.

Agreed. But I wasn't trying to specifically address only you, I figured there were quit a few others who felt similar. But I digress, I do agree with everything you just said.
