I hate to rain, but why is landry the key to the ring? He's a ok player, but he's poor defensively, good rebounder and good finisher when healthy, that's what he is. To those that think Brand going to philly helps houston keep landry, why wouldn't clipps offer landry 5m per and calls houston bluff? Wake up.

Turiaf signing also means that the Lakers won't be going after Landry. Now the Clippers on the other hand...that is another story.

Yea seriously, Landry did a lot better last year it's because of TMac force feeding him dunks. Any other team and no one would be talking about him right now. Landry overall is a decent player but not this world class baller that everyone here is making him out to be.

Right on about Landry but call on Houston's bluff?? What if Houston lets Landry go? Then the sixers are stuck with an undersized PF behind Brand who is not worth the $5MM.. duh. Thats why.

I'm happy with barry and landry. We can also get elior in here after the olympics. It's a win win for everyone .

Does this make LAC a player for Landry? Are they the last (other than Grizz) with $ left above the MLE?

LAL overpaid for Turiaf IMHO, but - does his contract set a standard for a Landry deal?

I believe the best option is to stand pat this offseason, and hang on to Landry. This team is good enough to contend.

Adelman will make use of Landry, Brooks, and Head in our offense next season.

If we hare healthy, I believe our starting lineup and our bench is offensively and defensively sound.

    Yao/Hayes/Dorsi
    Scola/Landry/Harris
    Battier/Novak/Greene
    Tmac/Head/Francis
    Rafer/Brooks/Jackson

Anyone else amused by the Carl's Jr. ad popping up on this Carl Landry thread? Pretty intelligent.

I'm not so sure about that. John Hollinger's PER suggests Landry was incredibly productive last season with limited minutes. Unlike Hayes, he has more than just hustle, he has the potential to get better. I remember seeing him take his guy off the dribble once or twice and thinking, "I didn't know he could do that..." and when got the chance his jump shot wasn't too shabby either. The guy is a player. Won't ever be an allstar, but could be a starter one day.

Why is that sad? For one, we aren't going to throw random allotments of money at guys who probably won't put us over the top anyways (Maggette), and if our team was healthy last year, we DEFINITELY would have made a lot more noise in the playoffs. That 5 seed and match-up with the Jazz was a direct result of injuries. If we had been healthy, this would have been a top 3 team in the West. And besides, we are going to be major players on the trade front....these free agent signings are simply there to shore up any issues we might have with depth.

No they didn't. The Sixers could offer him $20MM more than the Clippers, because of the Baron Davis signing. It was suggested that Baron took a little less with an agreement from Brand that he too would take less, so they could play together. So much for that.

The worse thing that could happen would be the MLE. No one can pay over that for Landry and we get to match. Now that would be a terrible choice for the Rocks, who might let him walk or might do a sign and trade, or match, which blows all the MLE on a player who has questions about a knee and played only limited, if highly productive, minutes in his rookie season.

A weird situation. There may be a couple of teams that might offer Carl the MLE after losing out on the Brand sweepstakes. I hope not. He shouldn't get as much as Scola.

milsap i think is better. but powe isn't. but that's the price you have to pay for having such garbage PFs for so long until scola came along. that was our main weakness other than PG for such a long time.

we had chuck hayes man, missing wide open layups on the regular. and good PFs are rare nowadays. landry has potential, esp. with that jumper of his.

I agree. Here's hoping Morey pulls the trigger on the TMac-for-Billups-and-Prince deal. I like TMac, but I think we'd be better on both ends of the court with these two new starters.
