I agree whole heartedly that Cato is not sufficiant at PF. But his defense is outstanding. This is one case where the numbers don't lie.

In almost every single game Cato held his opponent to a significantly lower shooting percentage than that persons average and in almost every game Cato out rebounds his opponent.

My point is that if you want to say that Cato should not be starting because of his offense then that is fine and I agree. If you say that his D is lacking then I have an issue with that. Ben Wallace is recognized as the best defender in the league but if he played in the west guys like Dirk, Duncan, KG and Zack just to name a few would have monster games against him on occassion. As good of a defender as Wallace is, he is no Hakeem and even Hakeem could not stop the opposition from having big games every night.

Given the minutes Alton Ford could do just as good a job or better. The difference is $ . Houston most have the most "$" bench in the league !

Without much imagination one could see Cato evolving into 12 boards/2 blocks/8 points a night. This, coupled with his D, is
plenty of production from the 4 spot. Granted, he does need help
with brick reduction, but isn't that somewhere in Coach Ewing's job
    desciption ?
