I saw this on ESPN this morning and MB is an idiot...He may be right, but we didn't hear the conversation...but there's a better way to handle it...

Kent: WTF, you got to run faster b*tch, as I need my RBI's...

MB: WTF, Do you know who I am, I'm the leader b*tch...Everyone told me so...

Kent: Look MoFo, next time I hit it and your on base, run, that's it...

MB: Who you calling a MoFo, MoFo...Nobody talks like that to Milton...Milton will get angry...

Well, maybe it didnt' go like this, but give me a break...don't b*tch and whine about how everyone said your the leader..be one and play like one...

I was thinking the same thing here. The argument between Kent and Bradley reminds me of this past season's NBA Finals between the Spurs and the Pistons. One that I could care less about as I find both of these guys unlikeable.

I will add, though, that going through the media like Bradley did was really not a good idea. As much as I hated Jimy Williams, he was right about one thing: if you have internal problems, you keep them "in-house".

you're the only sox fan i ever met that hated jimy williams. when i went to fenway to see the 'stros play the sox, boston fans gave jimy a freaking standing ovation everytime he hit the field. including to deliver the lineup card before the game started.

Milton: "So what do you want to see Milton about?"

Kent: "Well.... (pointing at him) Milton!"

    Milton: "Huh uh..."

Kent: "About tonight hum.. there's been a little misunderstanding."

Milton: "Ah! ... Milton doesn't like misunderstanding."

    Kent: "Yeah. What happened was...."

Milton: "Milton and misunderstanding kinda clash."

Kent: (suddenly intrigued) "You know, I've never heard anyone talk the way

    you do. It's very unusual."

    Milton: "Well, Milton's very unusual."

Was he concerned about the RBI, or the fact that he felt a teammate didn't hustle, leading to a run not scoring that could have helped win a game? Keep in mind - Kent was pissed during the game, not after (when they knew they won). Say what you want about Kent, but the one thing the Astros players all talked about when discussing him is that he may be moody or non-personable or whatnot, but all he cared about was winning.

Things like this make me think Bradley is just on some bizarre rant:

Bradley accused the media of coming to his locker first Tuesday because he is black. Kent had not yet arrived at his locker.

He's upset that the media went to the locker that had a person at it instead of standing at an empty locker?

But what did he do in that time to show that he was upset? I mean, Bradley ended up scoring what proved to be the winning run that same inning, so I can't see any reason why Kent would be too upset. I can sort of understand if he didn't score a run, but it should be kept behind closed doors, which it obviously wasn't if he was upset about it during the game.

I'm not defending Bradley. The guy's a nutjob. However, we're seeing a pattern emerge with Kent. He's very lucky, IMO, that the publicized problems have been with Bonds and Bradley.

Dude were did you get the 13.5% that doesn't make Blacks overrepresented in MLB .That just doesn't make since. Some teams don't even have a black American on there team.

I didn't see the incident, so I'm not sure what was said or when. But Kent being upset would be the same as the whole Tiger fiasco at the PGA Championship when he left early. It worked out fine in the end (the run scored), but was it still a bad decision that could have been costly? I would venture to guess Kent said something along the lines of "you need to hustle more next time" in a rude/aggressive tone, possibly with some racial tinge based on Bradley's comments. Based on his general grumpiness, he probably didn't handle it well, but my main point was that I don't think it was really because he cared about getting an RBI.

I got the 13.5% straight from Milton Bradley. He said that 9% of all MLB players are black. If 1/3 are foreign, that means that 13.5% of American-born MLB players are black. If blacks make up 12% of the overall American population, then they exist in higher percentage numbers in MLB than they do in America overall. Therefore, they are overrepresented in MLB than in the general American public.

Geoff Blum made comments at 1:30 am last night. He's played with both players. Talked about how Kent is a fierce competitor, has a ton of baseball knowledge, and let's you know what he thinks. Since Bradley has strong opinions as well both are holding a grudge over a specific incident that neither can let go of. Thinks the Astros will make the playoffs easily. They asked him bluntly if Kent had something against blacks and Blum he does not. He said that everyone liked him in the clubhouse, but he did get on peoples nerves because he was hyper competitive. And that was a loner outside.

He just rubbed me the wrong way with his "hunches". I think it was Bill Simmons, but I can't remember, but at any rate, he used to have some articles on Williams that were just downright brutal but very funny - at least to me. :)

This reminds me of an old Astros story. Joe Morgan was on first base when Curt Blefary hit a double. Morgan stopped at third. After the game, Blefary jokingly said to Morgan:

"If I were black, you would have scored"

    Morgan replied:

"If you were black, that would have been a home run"

In Berkmans rookie season, or first full season as a starter, he failed to tag up on a deep fly ball and didn't score. Alou through a fit because Berkman should have easily scored on a sac fly. Alou chewed Berkman out all the way to the outfield during the next inning. Was it race that drove Alou to chew out the young white rookie or was it simply a veteran ball player telling the rookie to pull his head out of his a$$?

I remember that incident, but I thought it was because Berkman failed to score from 1st on a double that Alou hit (apparently Berkman forgot there was two outs and got a late break). Alou was a total hypocrite when it came to stuff like that. There were a number of incidents where he made half-hearted attempts on fly balls as well as one time when he didn't go after a ball because he thought it was going to land foul. He turned a routine single into a triple. He never got publically berated.

We were also up 9-0 or something like that, IIRC.
