Miller has played at a high enough level to still be very useful as a backup center. Like someone else says he doesn't rely on his athleticism so he can play longer.

This is the kind of stuff that annoys me about the average sports fan and radio show call in types. There's always this assumption that if you don't get the guy, it's completely the team's fault as if there aren't any other factors in the world that affect what goes on.

This stuff doesn't happen in a vacuum. We didn't get Chandler because we needed to be part of a multi team trade that fell apart when Miami just traded Beasley to Minnesota. We didn't get Al Jefferson because we couldn't provide the T-pups with immediate cap relief. Etc and so on and so forth.

How so? By paying Lowry 1 mil more than Steve Blake got from LA?

Damn clutchfans, did we give any player Rashard Lewis money? If so, lemme know.

5mil per year is a lot, but in this NBA where more than half of the players are overpaid, 5 mil is not too bad. Like I said in another thread, Drew Gooden, who is a journeyman by the way, just got a six year 30 something million dollar contract. Also, Joe Johnson, who isn't even a top 20 player in the NBA just got 120 mil......The market determines the player contract, not us guys here in a message board....

Not sure what the breakdown is but the real contract is probably 2 years at 9ish million.

Considering he made $12 million last year.....

you have to pay to get a mix of talents not every center has:

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nEgFL2-zOIE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nEgFL2-zOIE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

    and this:

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WaTyED4GhDg&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WaTyED4GhDg&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

    and this

    and this

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KKDjH5BD3Iw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KKDjH5BD3Iw&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Not one of our centers can do all 4, or even 3 of the 4...plus he's got some crazy in him, another quality we need in our big men, i thought we were tired of the niceness??

That's more than I expected to pay, but keep in mind that even at age 37, a 7-footer with a $5 million expiring deal will be a notable trade chip two years from now. Will his talent be worth $5 million that year? No. But he'll still be useful, and it's not exactly a crippling contract.

All championship teams OVERPAY for necessary assets, Morey understood we needed a center and got him a center!

Good signing, especially for Adelman's offense. We're going to have to focus hard on team D to go far.

How many guys on our roster now? How many guaranteed contracts?
