Brad does not rely on his athletism to play, so he can play for 3 more years.

Brad and Luis both have games that are based on using their Size, position and intellect. They are not trying to jump out the gym for a block or jumping over any body for dunks. But what they will do is rebound stay with there man and hit open shots.

If a man leaves Brad to help on defense we will be able to hit the open shot or make the correct pass.

Skilled centers are hard to kind Marcus Camby is just at old if not older then Miller and is getting 10 mil a year.

Looking at price makes me feel alot better about Brads 5 mil a year

    Exactly...

plus Les said he'd be willing to spend if it meant winning. This is a good sign.

I disagree that Miller isn't over the Hill. 34 is old for a big man (excluding Deke who is immortal). If he can give us what he gave the Bulls in the playoffs (10.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists ) ill be happy.

what would make tyson a morey move? He solves our on court hole, but looking at the financial side of it, he's a one year rental. There's no way he stays here at his age and if he's healthy. Someone would have overpaid in a big way for him and for 5 years at least. I think it was a move any manager or coach would make. You already have jefferies not playing and taking up space, why not replace him with a shot blocker without giving up anything else or adding years?

I think this move had some morey and adelman in it. Morey trusted adelman's evalution of miller and that factored into how high morey was willing to go. I think overall this may work out better. Even though miller isn't a shot blocker, there's a much better chance of keeping some consistency within the roster/rotation.

    Ewwwwwww

His primary role will be feeding passes to cutters and hitting the open 20 footer.

His secondary role will be sucking at everything else.

great signing. And honestly, who else is out there that could fill in for Yao and still be a positive impact for the team? 5 million isn't a steal, but it's definitely not overpaid either considering some of the ridiculous contracts being given out this summer.

    2 years, 8-9 mil...I'm good.

Besides, some of these players are about to go.

Battier (trade or just overall expiring contract)
    Jeffries (See battier)
    Anderson (Likely trade)
    Hayes (contract up after season)

about 16 mil off the cap (not including Anderson, since his contract doesnt end)...our boys will either deal some of those and take on the salary of a big name or just let them expire.

Bigs cost money... especially in competitive market that demands it. Take an economics class before you insult the guy.

Seriously, at this price, I'd rather have gotten Darko at 4 for 16m.

Just got the feeling that this is just a one year rental, then will be using him and battier as trade bait for next season as expirings.

And the front court just goes from Scola, Hill, Hayes, Jefferies and Anderson to Yao, Scola, Hayes, Miller, Pat, Hill, Jefferies and Anderson. In one off season.

    Can you say deep?

See look at it this way, had we let Brad Miller go, we all would have been pissed at the Rockets organization for failing to bring a back up C this off season. Sure it's overpaid, but it had to happen. This tells us that Rockets are ready to win. If we can somehow get Iggy and Smith, I would be HAPPY. Not that I'm not already happy.

once again, players being evaluated solely on their age....that's why i started that age thread in NBA dish. You're not offering anything else besides an age evaluation. Is he no longer in his prime? Well yeah, if that's what you mean by over the hill, then he is, but then so was Dream when we took Utah to the conf finals. If you mean over the hill, as in he has nothing left besides his corpse taking up space, then it's far from that. A lot of factors come into play besides age, especially when the big man never played above the rim to begin with.

Trade bait as expirings? It's a 3 yr contract. Only battier expires this season.

    EH... good signing!

Brad Miller allows us to put Jordan Hill back at the PF position. While still getting stints at Center as well!!
