Splash...as in me dropping the kids off in the pool today after lunch...guess this is the best we can do....
This is not the biggest signing we've ever had, but… WE ARE GETTING YAO BACK!!!! WOOOHOOOOO! Best center in the league will play for the Rockets!
Man some of you don't realize this but Yao may not even play 15 minutes a game this season, he may not even start......... We signed Miller because he is a proven starter and obviously has agreed to remain the backup center once Yao comes back. We can't sign a starting Center, we don't want a young center with no experience, we already tried the European route and Deke ain't coming out of retirement. Miller for 5 million is the best we are going to get based on those above reasons. Unless you really really want Chuck Hayes to start at C.........
a dinosaur &maybe not a bad thing but some how when i think of him the words chokes in the playoffs come to mind, but he was at the top of 2nd TIER F.A. CENTERS I AM JUST LEERY of old because as much as deke helped us out when we needed him the most he was hurt in the playoffs&the one thing we don't need is an injury prone center because WE CANNOT OVER WORK YAO ANYMORE........
Nothing surprising tonight from Miller on FOX26: Been wanting to play for Adelman for 4 years now. Was never about the money(even though he did get his money ) - Houston the place all along. Martin also unsurprisingly happy to have Miller. "He's an Adelman player." That's all I remember.
Last year with the Bulls, Miller seemed pretty comfortable in a smaller reserve role. The game he played us and started due to Noah being out, afterwards he said he was exhausted with having played so many minutes. It seems to me that he's not looking to play big minutes at this stage of his career. If the Rockets are expecting him to fill in as a starter for a significant portion of the season, that's not a good thing. I don't think Miller will be asked to play more than 20 minutes per game.
He is obviously Spanish, but the NBA aint exactly ripe with Mexicans. Take what you can get if you're gonna complain about ethnicities. (I'm just yanking your chain.)
"Been wanting to play for Adelman for 4 years now." Think about that statement. That's how long it's been since Adelman was fired by the Kings and before Miller was moved the Chicago. I really think Miller is going to surprise some people this season here in Houston with his play. He's been unhappy for a long time. He was pushed to the bench last season and while willing to do it, he simply didn't like the system and possibly the coach. Now he's reunited with Coach Adelman and is really excited about it. More of us should be excited as well. I had kind of a weird thought recently, and maybe the same thought has been mentioned here. I don't know if it has, so here goes... could Miller play some minutes as a 4 with Yao? Sure, he's a classic 5 and a two time All Star, but the Rockets had success with two 5's after moving one to the 4, Sampson. No, Miller is nothing like Ralph, really, but the thought of him playing some situational minutes with the Big Fella has me intrigued. Totally crazy? No doubt, but we just might see that sometimes.
Bingo. Basically what he said. "It's been 3, well now 4 seasons since he left Sacramento." Then said something to the effect of "I've been wanting/trying to catch back up with him since then." I wont call you crazy but probably unlikely imo.
Hopefully will be healthy this year so that we could have our twin towers of 7'6" and 7'0" centers, both highly skilled players. THAT, my friends, is a lot of beef congesting the paint. Opposing players will not have a free ride to the lane for layups as they did last year. I am cautiously excited.
His name's on the roster. This make our defense even worse, but his offense could help offset that. We've seen how effective Miller can be in the high post, he hasn't forgot how to pass. Were not asking him to win games, just hold down the fort while Yao's on the bench.
This makes our defense better IMO, as his enormous length has gotta be better than the 6'6 chuck hayes patrolling the paint ...right?!!!!!!
If only it were that simple. I swear if Chuck Hayes had Stromile Swifts body, he be the one of the greatest defenders of all time, but alas he's a munchkin. An Brad Miller moves his feet about as fast as Dexter Pittman.
hmmm, not sure about that... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/hXyxkWQ7z7A&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/hXyxkWQ7z7A&hl=en_US&fs=1?rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
