While it may be a lot for a back up C, chances are somewhat likely that he could be the starting C for a significant amount of the season. And where else are you going to pick up a starting C ? and if you did, what would you have to pay him? The extra premium was for Yao insurance.
I think it is just a fact of life that bigs in the NBA will be overpayed regardless. Just look at the quality of big men in todays game, I can only name like 5 that are considered great, Yao, Howard, Gasol, Bogut, and Duncan. After that, their is a severe drop off and most teams aren't willing to give up big men like that and so the market for the 2nd or 3rd tier centers is valued higher than that of 2nd or 3rd tier wings or guards.
Brad Miller Stinks......I live in Sacramento. I know the topic is odd but whatever. I've watched Brad Miller for most of his career since we get every Kings game. The guy is a complete joke. He is a soft, slow, over the hill p/f. The only thing that he has that is positive is a faceup jumper from 17 feet. Other than that he provides absolutely nothing. If we were gonna sign this guy I would have paid no more than 2.5 million per. This is probably Morey's worst signing of all time. Let me compare him to one of those guys that is on the court and when he touches the ball you are like, "Damn I hope he doesn't do anythign stupid" There are many players like that they usually only play 10-15 minutes a game and mostly due to injury or just lack of bench. Will my friends this is what we have in Brad Miller. He is a scrub. I think you get the picture.
I'm pretty skeptical myself, he doesn't pass the eyeball test whenever I see him play, seems slow and lumbering and unathletic. We shall see I guess.
I was going to dismiss your post as nonsense based on the lack of basketball analysis and the silly title of your thread, but then I saw that you live in Sacramento. You've convinced me, I now hate this signing.
It's nice that you think that after watching him for most of his career. You know who else has watched him for most of his career? Rick Adelman. Yes this topic is odd.
You guys act ing like he's going to be starting and getting majority minutes. I'll bet his going to play about 10 to 12 minutes a game. But then again he was overpaid
Damn it, when someone posted a few months back that they wanted B. Miller on the team I couldn't believe it, he is a joke and now its all true. Big mistake , Morey you messed up this one up for sure
i know, right--i mean, if HE is playing any serious minutes, then that means that Yao is out or something and we are going to suck anyway!
He is only going to be playing back up Center so it not the end of the world if he's not an all-star... hopefully Yao comes back to full force quickly and will limit Miller's minutes
In this situation Morey was damned if he did or damned if he didn't. We needed a back up C and got one. Im happy.
Okay. Let me get this straight. He's slow, he's stupid, he's soft, he has no game besides a medium jumper... and he can put up these stats in his career? If Miller can teach Patterson and Hill his amazing secret, we'd have the next Amare and Bosh!
