Why is that a good thing? Last year when our bench came out we actually started coring on people and would get large leads. They would run and gun and be mean and nasty. The L&L boys didn't give a crap what your starting salary was. Change of pace is a good thing.
Man, that's a lot of money for him.. but we need him. Hmmmm... let's see if hes worth the money... Good job gettin it done Morey!
Glad you are not the ones writing the checks miser. 3rd year is not fully guaranteed. I think it is a good deal. After this year, hes close to being an expiring contract with value (and I for one think he will be here for at least 2 years). He is a former All-Star center.
I love it. We've been needing a back-up center for years and although Miller is not a young gun for the future, I'm happy we have a solid player behind Yao. A bid more than what I expected, but sometimes you gotta pay for services. Lets be honest here, there is no center out there that can be had and would give us what Brad will probably bring to this team. I like this move and I have no doubt that Morey can get rid of Jeffries and Andersen before the trading deadline just in case we can't work out a deal for a player such as Granger.
I hope you're right about the bolded. But I'm pretty sure when we had Deke people on this board was saying we will have a Solid young backup Center by the time Deke is gone. Like I said earlier we have needed a young backup Center for a long time now. But hopefully this move works out.
post like this confuse me and bring me back to a quote from Brian Cashman “In free agency, it’s not about cutting the best deal, it’s about securing the player,”
Exactly. That is the market right now. Being cheap would have lost us Lowry, Scola, and Miller, and then people would b**** about that.
@STEIN_LINE_HQ RT @Jonathan_Feigen: Rick Adelman on Miller: "He can really help make our other players better. " Don't hear that about backup C a lot
I think the value of the deal is fair enough with what he can provide. Last year he was in an odd situation, not being in a team with a stablished system and not being physically fit makes anyone look worse than they really are. If we give this guy 15-20 minutes y expect him to contribute 7ppg and 6rpg on regular basis and average defense.
Great signing. People need to quit acting like 5 mil/yr for a guy like Miller is a horrible deal. Considering the market, its a solid deal that fills a huge hole for us, plus hes already acquainted with Adelman's offense. Whoever said it was "Morey's first bad move" is trippin.
a bit pricey but it's a good signing. Rasheed Wallace signed for 18m over 3 years at that age. so. we're in need for a legit backup center and our owner is willing to pay.
Problems are: He's overpaid He doesn't bring anything to the team we don't already have. Brad Miller's claim to fame is his passing and his ability to smooth out an offense. Check our team from last season...we score more than enough buckets. We needed a defender so that we aren't scoring 115 points but giving up 120. Miller gives us nothing defensively but a big body (which he doesn't use) and we could have bought that for much cheaper than $5 million a year.
Cato was overpaid of course but it was the length of his deal that really was irritating. This is basically a two year deal. The third year is partially guaranteed. Also it's not like this signing will prevent us from acquiring talent. We've never been able to sign a big name outright, we always have to trade for a superstar and now we have the depth to make a Hill more expendable. We are going all in this season, we don't know what's going to happen with Yao, God forbid but he could reinjure his foot and have to retire. Maybe he goes down in the playoffs like before at least you have a vet to step in no problem.
What? Its a 3 year contract with the last year partially guaranteed. And its $5M/yr which is below average salary. I think Brad Miller is at least an average player in this league. Doesn't bring anything we didn't have? THE ONLY CENTER ON OUR ROSTER WAS YAO.
