We just need someone who can spell Yao for 10-15 min. He is that guy. And another plus, he doesn't have to be trained in Adelman's offense. HE KNOWS IT ALREADY! Other than overpaying, we have found a backup center for 2 years (maybe 3), and the young backup center will be there for us by then.
Lots of stupid people on this thread ragging on a great move. Camby signed for 10 mil. Darko for 5 mil and people are saying Miller is overpaid? Look up that last games we played against CHI and go back to bed. I'm done here. Idiots that probably haven't been to TC b****ing. Enjoy ur weekend folks I'm going back to the water
Probably, but just my opinion, I'm not comfortable with Hill playing the 5 and Patterson, imo, can play the 4 better than Hill.
Here's Gene Hackman on the Miller signing: @STEIN_LINE_HQ RT @Jonathan_Feigen: Rick Adelman on Miller: "He can really help make our other players better. " Don't hear that about backup C a lot Whatever Miller can contribute at backup C, I'm fine with it. I see more positives of this signing than the negative. A Deke with no defense, but has offense.
Too much money. I guess Adelman must have really wanted him, and the some other team was offering him a similar deal.
He will be a plus to our team but the contract is a little steep. His rebounding and defense isn't that great, but he takes up room in the lanes and can stretch the floor. Dunno, we will wait and see...
Isn't the contract really 3 year/11 mil with the 4 mil in the 3rd year partially guaranteed? So it's really just close to 4 mil we're paying him.
I like the team. There aren't any major eye openers, but let's see what Morey has accomplished. He's locked up 3 guys who should be in the top 8 in the Rotation immediate future. Plus he's gotten Yao to stick around for at least one more season. Yao - 1 year / 17 million Lowry - 4 years / 24 million Scola - 5 years / 47 million Miller - 3 years / 15 million Miller is a fully capable backup center. People are complaining about the dollars in the contract, but let's not forget that a 7 footer with skill isn't that easy to come by. So, when Yao sits down, the offense can continue to operate almost the same as with Yao. Miller is a really good center, very effective and efficient. Plus, he's very familiar with Adelman's system. That in itself is worth a lot.
Bad contract and he really fell off last year. Signing old vets has been moreys only weakness. I hope this works out but I am expecting to be disappointed.
Instead of sending Morey for FA recruitment, we should just set up a FA dinner with Rick Adelman. Dude went for dinner with Ariza and Miller, and he netted em both <img src="http://leblogjames.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/rick_adelman1.jpg">
The only one that I could consider overpaid is Miller, but it's only two years with the third partially guaranteed. Luis Scola averaged over 16/8 this past season. Those are borderline All-Star numbers and Rasheed Wallace-type when he was an All-Star in Portland/Detroit. Lowry could be a starter for half the teams in the NBA and he has a better overall game than Brooks. He has great energy and is one of the best at drawing fouls when he's in the game. It makes the game easier when the opposition is in foul trouble. His $6 mill per year is about right and maybe underpaid.
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON! I haven't been this happy since we re-signed Scola. And hadn't been that happy since we re-signed Lowry. And hadn't been that happy since Bosh choose Miami. AWESOME OFFSEASON!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!
