Yeah... Patterson and Hill... not true centers but we need them at the 5. Develop what we got and not worry about what we don't have...
I am not sure Patterson can play the 5 right now, up until this point he hasn’t. Can he? I am sure they can accommodate those 25 minutes for him if he could. One time he played alongside Scola and the Argentinian was the one guarding the Center. Even if more of a test than anything else, the other position he has played was some SF in the summer league, they probably wanted to get a feel of how he handled the perimeter on both ends of the floor.
Maybe Adelman is seeing something practice that tells him Patterson can't play center. As far as I can tell, if we can ask Scola or Hayes or Hill to play center, then we can ask Patterson to do it.
I disagree that he is the sole reason we have lost 5 straight. But I agree he is useless to us really. Ppat, Jeffries, Hill, and Hayes are all better options IMO and PPat and Hill are actually getting better. I don't care for his passing, Martin, Brooks, and Scola create enough offense. I don't care for his 3 point shooting, don't we have enough perimeter shooting? He's slow on defense and when we put in Scola and Miller or interior defense becomes completely non-existent. It's too bad though. Miller will continue to play all year. No one else wants him so we are stuck with him here.
For those of you with that little grey bar under your name: reflect on that next time you have the urge to start a thread.
I went ahead and asked Feigen about it, he was pretty quick in responding: Me: Can Patterson play Center? That seems like a very good way to get him as much time as he deserves. Considering his competition at the moment, what do you think? Him: http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2011/01/as_even_the_rockets_seem_to_ex.html
Miller is a poor man's Lohaus. If Yao was healthy he could've played the role of back up C, and well, but at $5 million per? We truly need to see if we can unload him to a team that could use him and go after a McGee type run & gun shot blocked or even Dalembert , who is in the final year and will put in extra effort, one hopes in a contract year. Maybe in a package to Atlanta to try a get J Smoove?
The last thing this team has needed in the last two years is a Brad Miller type player. The offense has it's troubles but it's light years ahead of the defense. Adding Miller to this team is like adding a turbo-charger to a Corvette but not bothering to install any brakes.
If this is true, then our real problem is Adelman and Morey. They went out and signed the guy, so they must not have a clue.
