if were not getting camby and if we dont get bosh i dont mind having brad miller for 2 seasons, but with out the 3 year player option.
Where is the center you're talking about that the Rockets should get? Brad Miller is a big body and we need size. And I guarantee that if Yao is not ready he will start over Chuck.
Instead of pursuing Miller, they should take a look in the 2nd round of the draft at Art Parakhouski. He can provide all that Miller can at a beeter price and he is younger. He seems sort of like a 6'11 Louis.
I'd say it all depends on what question was asked to him ... unfortunately the article doesn't say ... What was he responding to when he said "I won't go to NY"? a) "The Knicks and the Rockets are interested, where do you want to go?" or b) "Where would you like to go?" If a) then he could very well be saying he might consider going to houston. If b) then he is saying he will go anywhere BUT NY. IMO
Probably just the direction or the franchise, their losing ways of the past couple years, and unfamiliarity of coaches and teamates. There really is no point in him going to New York for one year and potentially sitting the bench or being asked to do too much for a bad team. With Houston he could step right in, he knows his role, and have fun with it. With Chicago, he's probably got his own place, and knows all the teamates and coaches so its no big deal to sign for a year or two. It will probably just come down to if Chicago wants him or wants to move on. I will take him regardless of any moves we make unless we draft a center that could be productive his first year.
Umm...? There mediocre, and I highly doubt that any of the big 3 of free agents are going there. LeBron is re-signing with Cavs. Wade is either re-signing with Heat and have someone like Boozer or Amare come along with him or he is going to Chicago. Bosh is leaving via S&T most probably to Houston, Dallas, or Chicago. Maybe even OKC. That leaves NY with Amare or Boozer, who might re-sign with their respective teams or go to Miami with Wade, Joe Johnson, who might re-sign with the Hawks. NY have fun overpaying for Rudy Gay! LOL.
Wasn't Donnie Walsh with the Pacers when Miller played for them and was then traded to Sacramento? I never heard about any personal beef between the two but who knows? Also, perhaps it's just an issue of not wanting to play in NYC. Brad Miller is a self-described Mid-Western hick and proud to be so. Miller is so "country" that, one year during training camp with the Kings, Miller parked his RV/trailer in the Arco Arena parking lot and lived in it for a couple weeks. Not sure if he wants to volunteer for life in Manhattan if the money and everything else is pretty much the same everywhere.
Houston is the most un-New York city there is. Hey, we're un-Dallas, and they're only 200 miles away.
He still won't solve our problems for a backup C that can lock it down on D, block shots and get rebounds. But if Yao is going to be missing significant time at the beginning of the season and it's true that we will be championship caliber by the end of the season (aka Morey has acquired a third star), then I'm in favor of adding Brad Miller. Think about the champion Celtics two years ago and how they used Scott Pollard. That's about exactly how I'd use Miller now.
If it anything more than the LLE, Id pass. Id rather have Hill be our backup center. He is big enough to handle the position in limited minutes.
Watching that Bulls-Cavs series....Miller looks awful. He's old and not very athletic. But, with that said....it's not like Yao has anyone better right now backing him up.
