I was more impressed by his drives than his spot ups. Don't get me wrong, hitting the consecutive threes was very crucial to success. I expected his outside touch. Never expected him to try and take advantage of the defense and get to the hoop. That was something different.
I remember being so excited about that Jeffries for Tyson Chandler trade that almost went through over the summer. We finally had a decent replacement for Deke, I thought. Morey working his magic again. I remember feeling so disappointed when we eventually signed Miller instead. There's no way Chandler could have done what Brad did tonight. The guy is proving his worth. I'm happy to eat crow.
He was really aggressive going towards the basket and working off Martin. His passes were on the money and he pulled down rebounds I'm sure our other big men would have fumbled. The clutch 3's didn't hurt either. He didn't set the world on fire, but he was definitely the player of the game.
Same here. When we got him, I knew he was a smart player and all, but he's exceeded my expectations so far. Whenever he's on the court, I'd almost rather have him passing from the high post than any of our PG's running the offense. Not a knock against our PG's, Miller has just impressed me that much.
To add to this, and my apologies if someone mentioned this already, how about his defense tonight? No, I'm not talking about his post defense on Roy. I'm talking about his help defense. I know some people don't really care about this, but did anyone notice how well he and Shane defended this screens when Danny had the ball? Miller did an EXCELLENT job hedging on those screens. What I mean by hedging is it's Brad's job to cut off Danny's lane to the basket as long as he can to allow Battier recover. I can't count how many times Brad did an amazing job of this, and forced Danny to either continue dribbling, or force up an outside shot. Brad didn't over help (see Scola in any game which allows his opponent to hit open jumpers), and he didn't just not help at all like some other bigs do. He just flat out did his job defensively on those screens. Boring I know, and it's not the sexiest of stats, but just my opinion.
He's just stating that that ***** aint gonna happen again, which is a very plausible assumption...but appreciation given
The Rockets are lucky to have Miller. He has the smarts and the grit that is badly needed by this team.
I think he and Martin should come in a package deal. They work so well together. I wonder what would happen if we brought Bibby in...
I'm glad that lot of us fans see the positives of playing a big like Miller. Tonight with Miller and Hill out there, we looked and played like a big team. I was getting so tired of that small ball crap RA was doing. Ask Nelly how far small ball will get you. People say our intangible 6'6 C small lineup suites the style of play and was disigned for Aaron Brooks. I say you make Brooks learn how to run the team with a big at all times let it be Miller, Yao, or Hill. None of that small ball 42-40 garbage. Consistency with style of play and rotations is our key to success. When RA took Scola out for Battier, the team still looked bigger with only one 7 footer in the paint than our usual Yaoless lineup of a 6'6 C and 6'9 PF to close the game. With the amount of time RA gave Miller and Hill today, I would've been happy even if we lost, but they pulled a W. Indiana is a good team this year and its a much bigger victory than the Twolves. Good Job RA and hope you stick to this new direction and concept going foward. Miller use to torch us whenever he played against us, I hope he does the same now that he's on our side.
Loved him knocking down those threes. But to be honest he is the worst defensive center in the NBA. You would think a guy with that much experience wouldn't still have troubling providing basic help D without losing his man altogether.
Did anybody get the highlights from this game? I wasn't able to watch it and was wondering how he scored the majority of his points...
i like this lineup Lowry Martin Battier Scola Miller did well against Indy... I'd like to see that Lowry/martin/lee/hill/miller can do, against the right lineup of course.
