So the back to back against Sacramento just got easier since Fox is expected to miss those games with an ankle injury. We might be able to get back to 500 by next week
Udoka needs to find a legitimate offensive coach because this sht is absurd for an NBA team. There is no Tatum or Brown to save the day here the coaches MUST help these guys with scheme and strategy this was the very first play of the game FFS!!
There is no shooter you can bring in that can save this, because it’s caused by Jalen and Jabari shooting 25% and 22% from 3. So unless you are going to bench or trade them then it’s moot. I’m not as concerned with the shooting because Jalen and Jabari both either need to learn how to shoot or they are busts (shooting is integral for both of their archetypes), and I don’t think they are busts.
That play actually looks like it was supposed to be a pin down for Brooks, but Jabari did a bad job of setting the pick and then compounded the error by popping back out himself. Wouldn't say that the scheme was the problem, just the execution. That particular type of play is run by the majority of teams within the NBA, but success comes down to having shooters and actually being able to set a decent pick.
Good snapshot of this play. Would you say this offense is capable of winning games with the installs they have thus far? What exactly constitutes an Ime Udoka offense?
Patience, we replaced the end of our bench with guys who are gleague level and we are missing Eason and Landale. It is going to take time, and we don't have a STAR player on this team, we overpaid for a quality role player in FVV - he is solid but not going to move the needle on his own, he needs help. We overpaid for Brooks who is actually playing better than anticpated. Our D has been good with the starters, but bad otherwise, and our O has been struggling because we lost our best outside shooter and we didn't replace outside shooting in free agency. DD
Not win consistently. I feel that the offense as it exists right now doesn't have enough diversity as it largely consists of PNR and DHO's. There has been a smattering of back door cutting but not sure if that's by design or players reading the defense. Wouldn't mind seeing more deliberate off ball screens for back door cuts to make use of some of this teams athleticism. What I saw of Ime's offense with Boston wasn't overly complicated but may not necessarily work here as it was designed to hunt mismatches for Tatum and Brown. We could definitely do something similar, and actually did in the San Antonio game with Sengun, but need to mix it up more to keep the defense guessing.
Feeling like I have to watch every game now is brutal. Whatever happened to the days when I could watch game 32, get sick of them for 10 games, then return to watch game 42 and see no improvement whatsoever?
