@ashleyem has officially wrestled the jinx crown from @DaDakota! The king is dead, long live the king!
Stone said no major trades, and I believe him. Trading one of our expiring contracts for a player under contract through next year pushes us into the luxury tax, so that was not ever likely to happen. And it’s smart not to do that, especially for a team that’s never made the playoffs. Had the Suns continued their putrid performance and Booker became available (or another top 10-15 player), we might have seen a move. But as well as we are playing now, even that type of move doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. The smart move, and what I think we will likely see, is to wait until after the deadline and take our pick from the players who get cut or bought out. You might see a move where we are a little proactive and move one of our expiring contracts along with a SRP for one of those players just to get a jump on everyone else. While I think this was always going to be the way the trade deadline shook out, we have actually played ourself into a position where it makes the most sense.
Coming off that, playoff type, game in Boston last night.... I have a feeling tonight would be the night for a let down. Especially when you consider it's a back-to-back, with Tari already being ruled out. Regardless, the thread is aging like FINE WINE!
