If by foundation piece you mean a guy who is already established as a bona fide superstar that we can plug into the Harden role and go, one of those isn't coming back in any deal. With Herro, you get a guy who is 20, and has all the upside in the world. That is the return you want in a deal for a guy like Harden. Plus Robinson and all the other assets we would get back. One thing I know for sure is that a foundational piece can't be a guy with a broken jumper.
Please stop. There aren't many Rookies that can contribute to a team that goes to the NBA Finals. Yes, maybe he fails - but considering his impact in his rookie year it is more likely that he won't.
Silas can’t make Herro into a first option in 2020. He’s never been game planned against. He benefits from having the third or fourth best defender on him. Guys are forgetting he put up basically pedestrian numbers but did it with swag. I hope I’m wrong, I don’t respect the opinion that he’s good enough to take as the best player in a Harden trade. Simmons is. Jaylen Brown is. Pascal Siakam is. Jamal Murray is. Tyler Herro is not.
