Dow chemical plant in Texas City just blew up maybe a mile from my house, if that...My wife and I actually looked at a house right across the street from that plant when we were house hunting next year...story should break on all major news outlets in a few minutes...
I want to say that he is at Shell DP. I don't think he's here in Texas City. What is channel 2 saying?
It's funny ( not haha funny), but everytime I first see news like this, I get this horrible feeling in my stomach. I dont even know anyone there. It's like the feeling of impending doom and sadness for other people I guess. It feels horrible though.
So do I. Especially after 9/11. I wish I was in Houston to see this on the news. Keep the updates coming please.
Its a reformer at BP i believe EnergyNewsToday/Mar 23/1444 EST--BP confirmed a blast and ongoing fire underway at its 450,000-bpd Texas City refinery. "We had an explosion in the west end of the plant 20 minutes ago, I have no other details, " an onsite BP spokesman said. ENT has learned the blast was likely at one of the two reformers located at the refinery
Especially in light of the conventional wisdom about our refineries making attractive potential targets. There's no reason to assume that's what's happened but it was the first thing that popped to mind when I heard this.
Exactly. Texas City isn't the place that people think of, when they think refineries in Houston, but that's still gotta be the first thing that crosses anyone's mind.
