Truthfully Morey would be fleecing them for Boozer but Scola is pretty good. Lets get real though. He is not Boozer. I would like them to do this deal but they probably wont. Boozer imediately makes our frontline tougher and when Yao comes back adds rebounding, toughness, and scoring at the other low post position. It actually makes perfect sense and giving them Scola pretty much makes them the same team they have always been but we probably get better with Boozer. So I have no idea why Rockets brass isnt interested. Just more apathy to stay in the lottery I guess? Maybe they do want to go for the first pick in the draft after all? Boozer would give us help until Tmac comes back then we could actually make a playoff push. Then bring back Yao, Boozer and Tmac or Tmacs replacement next year and have a Championship team. At least have Boozer for trade bait too.
Scola was the Rox MVP last season. Toughness, hard work, consistency on a nightly basis. Great contract. +/- = 211 Boozer has missed a big chunk of the last couple of seasons with injuries. Even Jazz fans don't like him (speaks for itself) Wants a MAX deal. +/- = -37 Definitely not a DM deal. **Side note: I hope Luther Head (mentioned in article) catches on with one of those teams.
There's not much point in taking on an expensive upgrade like this. It just ensures we will have a mediocre season this year followed by another mediocre one next year. Of course Utah wants to get something rather than nothing back. Let's just hope that no other teams are stupid enough to fall for this. There really is no reason for any team to give anything of value back for him, despite his talent. The entire league should be able to see just how badly Utah screwed themselves over with their contracts. I find it extremely difficult to believe that Utah really doesn't care about the nearly 30 million dollars Boozer is costing them this year (his salary + luxury tax penalties + the loss of a luxury tax refund).
On what planet? When healthy, Boozer is one of the best 4s in the game. Scola is good but he is not on Boozer's level. Either way, I say no thanks. The fact is, if he doesn't get offered a maximum extension, he will be bolting for Miami next year. He himself has said how much he wants to play there, it is his adpoted home, they have ALOT of cap. And I am tired of seeing injury-prone players get maximum extensions. Nor do I think he will get it. So basically its trading Scola for nothing after Carlos walks. Plus their salaries are not anywhere near. Now if there is a 3-way offer on the table to get a talented young player to Houston (like a Michael Beasley), then we should be all over it.
Scola is much better than Boozer in price/performance ratio, attitude and track record as a winner. Call me crazy, but I would rather have Scola. If their price tag was equal, one could consider it, but there is a reason why the Rockets want to - and will - hang on to Scola and why Utah is trying to get rid of Boozer.
What would be the point of this trade for the Rockets? Boozer isn't going to lead a team anywhere, yet he wants a high-dollar extension. There's no way the Rockets are going to have T-Mac come off the books in a year just so they can give that money to Carlos Boozer. Boozer is good, but he's no franchise cornerstone. I HOPE the Rockets' plans are a little grander than that. What's beside the point is that Boozer is a total buttmunch who would be a drag to cheer for.
I dont see why we could help Uath and ourselves by giving them Scola and trading away Boozer for Bosh or Amare in a three team trade. Maybe Joe Johnson or one of the other 2010 free agents could come to us for helping them move Boozer and giving them Scola in return sounds good? Morey shoudlnt shoot the idea down completely if it can lead to another deal perhaps.
Thanks, but No thanks! I prefer Scola. But lets imagine this hyperthetically: A 1 on 1 game of Scola vs. Boozer.. Who wins? IMO Scola puts him away easily.
wtf!!!!!!!! Wouldnt do it, scola is way tougher, has more experience, AND is not injury prone! Carlos boozer seems to have a couple of injuries throughout the season, not to mention his overall gayness for men!
DM would be fired because Boozer: a) is always injured and we don't need another "star" like that b) would leave for miami in a year anyway c) make 12 million during a year we're not going to compete anyway d) Isn't as good as Bosh e) is a douche
