    QFT.

The Western reporting of the Tibet riots are outrageous. Imagine if the big 3 networks reported the Rodney King riots as "White/Asian storekeepers get what they deserved." That's how the West covered the events in Tibet.

These American athletes are controlled by their corporate sponsors. I doubt that they'd give a damn about human right abuse in other countries.

Outside of China starting a new land war in Southeast Asia, the USA should not boycott.

NO boycott, it's stupid to penalize the athletes cause the host country does some stupid stuff.

    second

I find it amusing that the same posters who keep telling us to learn history before talking dont seem to understand that the US didnt take Texas from Mexico, Texas was a republic(surely you have heard of the Republic Of Texas...see below) who seperated from Mexico before voting to join the United States.

just leave Texas out of your scenarios to return ill-gotten territories the big bad USA has stolen, we joined of our own free will.

The ones who were actually in Tibet correctly reported that the Tibetian thugs were going around killing people and burning up buildings.

By the time it got on CNN Headline News, this fact somehow was shunted off into oblivion and the news stories made it seem like China's fault. Apparently people deserved to have their stores burned down, just like the whites/Asians in LA deserved to have their businesses trashed in '92, right?

Maybe because we see China blaming the Dalai Lama as a complete joke. It is beyond transparent and makes China look stupid as hell.

Whether the Dalai Lama is at fault or not, the fact does not change that Tibetians rioted, killed people, and destroyed property. The American media somehow ignored that and instead focused on us stopping the riots and enforcing the law and claiming that somehow we are oppressing the Tibetians.

So sending the Army/National Guard in to suppress the Rodney King riots is oppressing the blacks? If you want to claim the initial protests were China's fault, I can claim the same about the Rodney King riots. The point is that nobody thinks the blacks rioting were freedom fighters, they were thugs and gangsters. Western hypocrisy is being piled nice and high nowadays by the American media.

China making up complete lies is oppressive. That's is what the world is seeing. If the US said the Rodney King plotted and mastermind the riots, you might have a comparison. The US didn't invade LA either.

China just makes themselves look foolish with the ridiculous accusations so nobody can give them much credit.

I don't know if it's really Dalai Lama's fault, but considering that the rioters are trying to put Dalai Lama back in power, I can understand how China is making such generalizations without sufficient proof. In combating the revolt, Dalai Lama would appear to be an enemy. Such generalizations may be wrong, but I can understand where they're coming from.

Putting aside China's statements regarding Dalai Lama, at least you can see how the Tibetans' actions are bad, right?

I don't know if Dalai Lama is behind the riot or not, but I have always thought he is a joke.

What year do we live in now for someone to think that he is the reincarnation of God? The communists have more similarity to capitalism than the Tibetan culture. I don't want to see them go back to their caste system and headhunting.

There are actually some Tibetans who are claiming the Han Chinese themselves plotted and masterminded the riots, killed and burned themselves just to undermine the Dalai Lama. Now that's a better compariosn for your Rodney King analogy.

And just how do you KNOW that the accusations against Dalai is ridiculous? Face it, it's only what you want to BELIEVE, isn't it?

It's actually their serf system and eye-gouging. It's one of the strangest marriages in history, that of the western uber-liberals and a medieval god-king.

THen if so the chinese government should have NO problem letting reporters into Tibet, which they currently don't do except on isolated visits with government minders.

No actually the strangest is "socialism with chinese characteristics"

Anyway since China is so proactive in destroying medieval states why does it support the Sudan governement, which allows slavery in Darfur, among other places.
