Would you be ok if people were passing along sinister quotes attributed to you that you did not say?

Snopes says the book has no source for the quote.

    He is a racist.

It's completely wrong for people to fabricate quotes from him but there are plenty of things he is on record saying that are despicable.

i'm still missing your lying comment. The guy is a caricature and says some ridiculous things. Again, big whoop.

He has some money and wants to become a partial owner for a sport he presumably really likes.

What people should be protesting is Fergie becoming a stake holder for the Dolphins...who wants to look at that in the press box?

someone fabricates that I hate eating apples
someone else fabricates that I hate eating oranges

Do you not grasp the difference in magnitude between honoring MLK's assassin and pining for slavery, and the stuff he actually said?

It's like saying Whoopi Goldberg personally advocates child molestation because she said Polanski didn't "rape rape" that girl.

You have it backwards. You say you hate eating apples. You are quoted as hating fruit.

That didn't answer the question. Do you have a problem with what he did? His statement probably took all of about 20 minutes to write. I don't think that's preventing him from dealing with other league issues.

Or maybe he acts like a racist, so when people hear other quotes attributed to him, it's easy to believe they were real because it fits exactly as something that he would say.

If true, do you think that justifies the misinformation?

No, of course not - that just gives his defenders a cheap way out. There are more than enough quotes coming out of his own mouth.

People who cant see Limbaugh is a racist amaze me. What more evidence do you need?
He's not gonna come out and say "I hate ******s" What the hell does he have to do until you acknowledge that he may be or IS a racist. He's more than a man with an opinion. Bill O'reilly. Keith Olbermann are men with opinions. Limbaugh is a man with an opionion who is also an OPEN racist

Limbaugh has called Obama a "halfrican American" (i guess thats funny)......... has said that obama was not black but arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna c*m laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for black a man who many Americans are supporting for president.

    1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

    2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

IF NOT TRUE HE SHOULD SUE THE PUBLISHER

    3. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

    4. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

    5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

    6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.

The last two quotes in the list above do not appear to have attribution, therefore they should be ignored. I have never heard the audio on, "Why don't you take that bone out of your nose" quote, but it predates the watchdogs who record him and has been attributed to him by major publications over decades; to my knowledge, Limbaugh does not deny saying it, so it should stay.

The rest of the quotes do have attribution; where possible in this thread, I've linked the actual audio of Limbaugh saying them. And yet that doesn't seem to matter to Limbaugh sympathizers.

"Injun," a racist slur with no "honest" modifier, as if that would make a difference, has been uttered by Limbaugh to describe Native Americans on several occasions. There is no qualifying context, or ironic detachment; Limbaugh just flat out said it.

"Halfrican American" has been used several times.

"Barack the Magic Negro" has been aired repeatedly on his show; it was produced for Limbaugh. It is cited as satire (ignoring that fictional Bagger Vances appear out of nowhere to help the white protagonist, then disappear; Obama spent his entire life working against adversity toward his goals--he alone is the president, he is the protagonist in this story), yet it satires Al Sharpton as an "Amos 'n Andy" exaggerated stock character, stereotypically incapable of pronouncing the English language ("foo" for "fool," etc.). Take Sharpton's politics for whatever you want, but he's one of the greatest orators in the country.

Limbaugh has admitted to the bone quote, AFAIK.

This is really the only other arguably racist quote that can be pinned on him. I don't think usage of a slur necessarily indicates racism, but if they're going to make a case based on this, maybe he should try to buy the Washington Redskins?

The "last two" being unsubstantiated were referring to Groogrux's list, not Nice Rollin's.

I don't think that one has to actually shout "n-----" from the rooftops to be considered a racist, or uttered by a radio personality to be considered race-baiting (for example, "take the bone out of your nose" is in itself damning), but yeah, there's really no excusing "Injun" as a substitute for "Native American" in everyday speech.

Nicely played, though, with the "Redskins" crack.
