Do you have a problem with what the Executive Director is doing? Using your characterization of it, it seems it's the same thing Rush makes a living on - stirring up people by publicly demeaning others largely based on an image crafted by Limbaugh.
The free market has spoken: ESPN: "Sources: Checketts to drop Limbaugh" A millionaire dozens/hundreds of times over is an American "pioneer" merely for attempting to buy a professional football team? "Give me a minority stake in the St. Louis Rams ownership consortium, or give me death!"
this whole limbaugh thing is so silly. Who cares, really? Just seems like such a non-issue...except for people who just dislike him in general.
Who said I don't get it? People in this country want to make a living out of being offended so I'm not convinced of that. I think the owners have every right not to approve of Limbaugh. I do not like the NLPA ED trying to manufacture opposition to him-- especially when it is based on a mis-representation of the man. Fair is fair.
Lending approval to but one of the minority owners of but one of the 32 (?) NFL teams does not seem like a significant agenda item for the NFLPA Exec Director. He's got a work-stoppage looming, remember? Maybe he should spend more time shepherding his own flock (players) some of whom have made a boatload of trouble for the league's image-- much of it certified criminal and not just legendary.
yawn. they don't have to manufacture crap. rush has been and still is a divisive figure in this country and it's perfectly understandable why a business would not want to partner with someone who has made such a high profile career of bad mouthing anyone who dares disagree with him. methinks you're bored and arguing just to argue.
It has been proven that a lot of those quotes "attributed" to Limbaugh were never uttered by him. Limbaugh has a crusade; it far exceeds simply bad-mouthing people who disagree with him. Limbaugh is a marketing juggernaut. Who has been more successful in radio? You seem to want to make him seem like some whack-job on a college FM station.
so, are you saying he's not a divisive figure? his crusade is built on bad-mouthing people who disagree with him. if he or you don't want him treated this way when trying to enter a forum where his past words are going to be used against them, maybe he should change his approach. and if he doesn't want to do that, he should stop whining and continue his radio show without trying to enter a business that's not built on bad-mouthing those who disagree with you. i'm done banging my head against the wall with you. jesus. christ. hitler - no bad connotations and limbaugh is a crusader who's just misinderstood. you're a ****ing piece of work.
i don't even know where you are getting that. all i'm saying is that this whole debate, if you can even call it that, is ridiculous. A guy wants to go in on a team...big whoop. So people don't agree with him...big whoop. It's just stupid that some people feel so strongly about him being a partner that they feel the need to boycott, protest, or whatever.
That's exactly the point. Limbaugh is being smeared as a racist so that the outrageous fabricated quotes are more likely to stick.
