A bunch of players would still just follow the money. How else can we explain the existence of the Oakland Raiders? I would prefer to not work for Rush, but if he's offering up twice the pay, somebody get UHaul on the phone.
I don't undersand what all the fuss is about? So the majority of people believe he is a flat out racist, ok how does that affect his ability to purchase and operate a business? Last time I checked they're still tons of white racist men runing the boardrooms of Fortune 500 companies. The NFL is a business, get over it. If he can afford to buy a team then so be it. As a fan I could care less who's the owner. Bob McNair is not the reason I am fan of the Texans nor will it ever affect my support even if he was to sell it to someone like Rush. BTW all the fools taking Limbaugh all too seriously are just falling for the trap. In showbiz you have to create controversy in order to stay in the spotlight. This whole "racist" side of Rush is just a entertainment persona nothing more. Can't believe people still fall for his stuff. Racist? He probably is but then again who here doesn't talk about some of the stuff he says on air? We all have racial and ethinic divides and stereotypes. Bottom line is a entertainer, a pornographer of the radio of sorts. Bad influence but you gotta have brain cells to figure out what's real or not.
That's it. I'm not going to draft any Rams players on my fantasy football team next year. In fact, I'm thinking about dropping Steven Jackson right now.
If some of his potential employees refuse to work for him, then his team is at a competitive disadvantage. His partners might not appreciate that.
The Rams are 0-4 right now and might give Detroit a run for their record. Competative is far from what they are right now. In the event that some players refuse to play for him than that's a contract violation, simple business you signed a contract you perform your end. Now it would be understandable if Limbaugh actually says something to the players and then they go on strike but since labor laws protect employees against such conditions same should apply to the owner. Your boss can't fire you because he believes you're racist without any material evidence or incident and vice versa. As for future free agent signings and draft picks, the color of money will always hold more power than that of skin. As far as racism goes, look I am not here to defend Limbaugh, he is an entertainer thats all. The people who accuse him of being a racist base it on his free expression on public radio. Now unless there is evidence of Rush discriminating a current or former employee based on race than everything else is just opinions and personal belief. Look am indifferent towards Limbaugh, but I think everyone should have fair oppurtunity at free enterprise in America regardless of whether they're racist or not.
These aren't St. Louis players talking. We're talking potential free agents. For most players, absolutely. But if 10% of the players won't play for him or he has to pay the other players more to play for him, that's a significant competitive disadvantage. He has a fair opportunity. But if he brings bad press to his business partners or the league due to the things he's said or done, they have a right to reject him as well. It's no different than MLB rejecting Mark Cuban as an owner because they felt he was too obnoxious for them.

Principled, but maybe not too realistic for any black guy with an even marginally well-paid job in a predominately white society. And I'm guessing a large portion of NFL owners are potential Limbaugh fans.
I understand what you mean and you are right perhaps some big time free agents won't sign with the Rams because of Limbaugh. That would really hurt the teams chances but also remember this, the team is on the verge of heading back to Cali with Ed Roski whipping things in place for a football stadium in LA. I think that is one of the reasons Rush might be buying the teams so he can profit handsomly if the LA deal materializes. I think the NFL will have a team back in LA within 5 years. Especially now that Jerry Jones poped the lid on mega stadiums.
I hope Limbaugh is successful buying the Rams because he would fail miserably and I would laugh my head off at him. He would instantly replace Jerry Jones as my least favorite owner.
I think not only free agents but top draft picks might balk at playing for the Rams. Consider if the Rams had the #1 overall pick and there was a consensus overall #1 talent in the draft, an Elway or Manning type player, who told the Rams ahead of time not to draft him. Losing out on a franchise player of that caliber because your owner is a racist dope is kind of a big deal.
Some of you are missing the point of this story. The story isn't about YOUR opinion of working for Rush or YOUR opinion about whether black people should be offended by Rush or whatever. I love it when people start pitching in about whether somebody else should be offended about something. Who gives a crap about your opinion IF somebody should be offended or not. All you need to be asking is ARE they offended. If you don't understand/agree with why somebody else is offended about something ...it's TOTALLY irrelevant that you disagree with them. For example, if your wife/girlfriend is mad about something that you feel is stupid ...do you tell her she is being stupid and she shouldn't be mad about it? If so, how'd that go for you? The story is that players are openly saying they will NOT work for Rush. Rush has every right to say what he wants. Free country. The reverse is also true. The players have every right to refuse to play for him. If I'm one of Rush's partners, I'm darn sure evaluating how effective Rush will be as an owner. He brings lots of cash ...for sure. I'd be evaluating if he'll cost more cash in the long run. Pro's are all about the cash >90% of the time. But every now and then, $$$ isn't the only factor. Is this one of those times? We'll see.
Who's the wimpy, paleoconservative Anguirus now? ESPN: "Union opposes Limbaugh's bid to buy Rams": This is no longer Gene Upshaw's players' union.
Limbaugh.....or whatever his name is, is simply one of many "conservative" radio hosts who appeals to an uneducated/undereducate caucasian population. He attempts to play of peoples deep-seated inferiority complexes....and it works within that small niche. *waits for it*
Well, I'ma white dude and think Rush is a moron who doesnt know when to say when.(I'm thinkin 20+ years ago) When the message isnt about the content but about its deliverer, something is wrong.
Sorry. I've been offline since Friday of last week... cable modem problems. Just watched the video and what comes to mind: HYPERBOLE I do think that Rush is mocking a slice of black culture in the same way that many people, white and black and yellow, whack on Rednecks. I'm more swayed that men like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams stand by Rush than that a bunch of you can throw a hissy-fit because of a clip of Rush. Somehow in all this Rush gets tainted as a Racist while Chris Rock and his ilk are just Racial. I don't think either is racist but there is a huge double-standard.
Good effort, but you can't honestly compare Rush to Chris Rock. When Rush makes comments about race, it's intended to be taken seriously. There is no double standard.
