Fun with making up quotes and/or having them out of context. You can pretty much do that with anyone.
so you are willing to give him a pass on the other half? i dont understand why it is so hard to accept that rush limbaugh is a very divisive figure and unless you want to piss off 1/2 of your potential client base, it would be bad business to be involved with him in any kind of profit-making venture. i also dont understand why it is so difficult to recognize that limbaugh has a history of making racially insensitive comments and why the nfl would have a problem with him for it. dont you think accusing black people (colin powell) of voting for obama just because he is black is offensive? was not limbaugh implying that the only reason black people voted for obama is b/c he is black too? stand by your man tammy.
The NFL should consider Keith Olbermann's insensitive and polarizing remarks. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V44sdAX5i-c&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V44sdAX5i-c&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Wow, that was hilarious. Keith isn't try to buy an NFL team, and nothing in that was offensive. The Nazi sign was in a satirical piece, and even the letter they show portrays it as the character Bill O'Reilly doing it, not Olbermann. Calling Wallace a Monkey has nothing to do with race or Judaism. Monkey is not an ethnic specific slur associated with Jewish people at all. It shows that whoever put this together is incredibly ignorant of the legitimate complaints and history of racism in this country. With this kind of evident lack of understanding it is no wonder they don't get it.
which is ironic since that is exactly what rush has done his entire career. throw out childish accusations (this is obama's america!) and name-calling (saying feminism only exists so ugly women have something to do...oh my god giddyup, he made a joke about women being ugly and you're still defending him...HYPOCRITE).
Except you are the one making the victimization argument. When you complain though that Rush never got a fair hearing or a day in court what are you expecting for him to do? I asked you this question earlier about if you felt that businesses have the right to decide who invest in them. This is clearly a business decision. You're railing about victimization and such belies the fact that this was largely a financial decision based on whether Rush had enough financing to buy in and also how his presence might affect the bottom line. What you have been complaining about is essentially a PC argument that Rush is the victim here and should be allowed to buy in even if it may harm the NFL's bottom line. That depends on what you mean. I presume you mean that the players union are exerting pressure on ownership. As I and other posters have noted that yes the employees do have a say in ownership in regard that they are the ones who produce the income. If they don't want to work for a particular owner that hurts that business' bottom line. I brought up specifically the instance of the Northwest Pilots Union holding up Delta's takeover. So this isn't unusual. Are you saying that people shouldn't be able to decide who they want to work for? That is the only practical solution to your argument.
You made a remark about my wife-- a real person; Limbaugh made a general remark about a type of woman. That's different.
Rush got submarined by a small-scale "popular" movement. His partners dropped him. Rush is not big enough or controversial enough to hurt the NFL juggernaut (who are you guys kidding?) but he was big enough to harm Checkett's ownership bid with five or so other groups competing. I hope Checketts gets the team and that he and Rush have a wink-wink deal to bring in Rush after the fact. Rush says that the NFL vetted him prior to this furor. The player's union ED wrote an email and a couple of plalyers were quoted in the paper, so how can anyone claim that there was a formal objection to Limbaugh? That's kind of a projection isn't it? People decide who they want to work for by taking the job they want, not by insisting on a say who their boss will be. Oh by the way, less than 3% (members of the Rams) of all the players in the NFL would have been forced to cash those rather large paychecks which would have come from a group that Limbaugh might have been part of.
^^^^^^^ And now we should all do exactly what Rush doesn't want you to do. Step 1: Point and laugh hysterically at him. Step 2: Forget this ever happened.
so, i guess i should've just said "any woman that would marry giddyup could use her looks to scare away burglars". according to you, that's ok. iow, you're a piece of work.
Why are you so bent on throwing around insults at specific, real people you don't even know? You are also dense because your "remake" insults me directly. That's not an improvement in civility. You are tortuously trying to construe an argument that gives you permission to insult me or my wife because Rush make anonymous outrageous statements about amorphous groups of people. Grow up. Go back to Anger Management. Do something to help yourself.
so, my fiancee shouldn't have been offended by the rush limbaugh comment about feminists being ugly? if he's not trying to offend anyone, why couldn't he just spell out why he thinks feminism is a bad thing rather than make a smartass comment about people who disagree with him? i'm fine, btw. i'm just sitting here laughing in disbelief at the bigot du jour you're trying to defend (and failing i might add). maybe you're the one who needs to do something to help himself because you've clearly lost your mind (or based on how long you've been defending these people, you never had one to begin with).
No, she should only be offended if she is ugly. Why would she really care what Rush thinks in the first place.
That would depend on her-- particularly if Rush referred to her deliberately and individually like YOU DID TO MY WIFE. Are you still struggling with the notion of your direct "attack" on my wife and Rush's hot air broadcast at no one in particular. You are either dumb or stubborn... I'll go with stubborn because I've met you and you seemed like a nice guy. I believe Rush has spelled out a lot of his problems with feminism but you'd have to read his books or his newsletter or catch more of his radio show than just one zinger line. Sorry but you are only stealing Batman's bigot du jour theme. You'll have to think up your own theme of insult if you are so determined.
I've been trying to keep out of the personal stuff but its not cool to insult other posters' families.
i don't know your wife and i didn't know you at the time. mine was a good-natrued joke that you took the wrong way. rush's are jokes, but they're certainly not good-natured. if he could offend each and every one of us liberals personally, he would, much like the woman he told to remove the bone from her nose before calling him back (zing!). face it, your hero has a history of making offensive and bigoted remarks. he is a divisive figure who wanted part of an exclusive club that did not want to see those past controversial remarks to be a cloud over their sport since the public is the one that ultimately pays these people checks. if he didn't want his past words to be used against him, HE SHOULD NOT HAVE SAID THEM. no one put a gun to his head to make him say bigoted things on the radio. that was his choice and now he has to live with them. let me ask you this...do you disagree with companies using facebook or myspace to screen applicants?
