As far as why people pistol hunt, they apparently do it because they believe that it is more challenging or perhaps exciting. When you shoot an animal with a rifle with a 20x scope, it may not even see that you are there. With a pistol, you have to get close enough that something like this might happen (you can see the guy in the video has a bow, which is used fir the same sort of reason):

Whats the point of you posting about the Rockets? some kids weren'r raised on professional sports talk but in the alabaman woods. some people kill wild hogs, some people post about the Rockets. its all good.
as far as we know, that 11yr old is bigger than you, me and the guy in the video. the only proof of how big that 11yr old is a photo where the scale of size is kinda out of whack...to put it lightly (no pun intended).
Is Alabama that rural and isolated, that this huge hog has never been seen before? Seems like someone would have taken a picture of it prior to this. Kinda like the Bigfoot of pigs.
Those Russian Boars typically don't just run wild. This was on a "commercial game preserve". I'm sure the owners knew about it, they just didn't know how big it actually was. And 500-lb ones are pretty common. There was a 900+ lb one killed on a similar ranch near my old deer lease. There, the owners knew about it, they just didn't know it was 900 lb.
You and I are obviously the minority here. Someone said they'd rather see it in a zoo? Why, so the animal can live in captivity and be miserable. In genesis 1:29 it says "man shall have dominion over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, and all of the other animals that inherit the earth.." Hunting and killing animals is what this country's roots are based on.
Let me ask you this... When you quite possibly have the biggest hog in the world on your hands, does it make more sense to study it or to kill it? I have no problem with hunting, but I don't think you should be killing something that is so rare.
If I was going through the woods, hell, if I was going anywhere not called the zoo, and I saw that hog, I'd **** my pants.
after reading the articles..... How the hell do you feel "good" killing it (with a freakin pistol)? And what the hell did you accomplish (by killing it)?
Hunting is a way of life for some people. I hunt every weekend and when I have the time. Each time a duck/goose hits the ground that I killed....well I can't explain the feeling.
