Just finished watching it. Taylor had him in the 2nd but couldn't finish. After that, Pavlik kept trapping Taylor in the corner and wailing away. Pavlik's straight right hand hit Taylor flush every time. In the final flurry, Pavlik hit Taylor with one left and one right uppercut that landed flush. There is no way Taylor would have gotten up in 10 from that. Let's see if there will be a rematch, and if there is, let's see if it will be for the title or a non-title fight at a higher weight.
Those guys were throwing bombs from the start ~ you knew someone was going down for the count before the 12th. Fight of the year..? I definitely want to see a rematch.
That was an awesome fight. Pavlik showed why he's the real deal and why he KO'ed his opponents 28/32 fights.
easily, but lets wait for pacman and MAB and cotto and mosley rematch? wasnt this supposed to be taylors last fight at 160? edit: nvm. the rematch would be at 166
even though I am a huge fan of Barrera, I am hoping Pacman beats him so that there can be a matchup with JM Marquez and Pacman. Rumors are they are set for April of next year but who knows. Marquez will kill Pacman.
Pacman will KO marquez. And then he needs to fight Soto. I think that's the guy who can possibly beat pacman.
Honestly Boxing lost alot of edge and fans when they went to all pay channels They need a Wild World of Sports like back in the day . . a bunch of saturday matinee fights Places where Joe Public America doesn't need to be paying monthly to see them . . .. at least they moving away from EVERY FIGHT being pay per views hard to get up for folx you never seen fight . .some you never heard of Rocket River
You must not have seen the first fight between Marquez and Pacquiao?? Plus Soto has to get past Guzman first.. thats going to be a hell of a fight.
That was years ago. Marquez has slowed down since then, he has got hit more often now. He is pretty old for his weight class already. Pacman is still in his prime. I don't think JMM can withstand 12th round. I think guzman is a bit overrated. Soto has enough skill and power to get pass him.
Marquez is a lot more skilled than Pacman. Although is if it turns into a brawl then Pacman has the upperhand easily. As soon as the Marquez-Pacquiao fight is set, we should make a little wager. Guzman is probably a little more skilled than Soto also.
Lots of great fights coming up, as mattj listed, but the one I am really looking forward to seeing is Mayweather-Hatton. I might have a few friends over for that one.
As exciting as Mayweather is, he is actually boring to watch sometimes because he fights a style that usually doesn't make an all out war.
I sure hope you're right ... but the problem is that Floyd will not be standing there trading with Hatton. Floyde will be doing his usual rolling of the shoulder and in and out style that can result in a snoozer. If the Mayweather/Hatton fight will be half as exciting as Taylor/Pavlik, then it'll be worthwhile.
I don't think Floyd will have a choice, Hatton is not going take it slow on him like Oscar did. Oscar had a chance to take that fight but he never made the decision. The ones who have made the decision to make Floyd fight have failed because they just were not good enough. Hatton is a devastating body puncher and he is going to work Floyd's body until he drops, atleast that is what I am expecting from Hatton. If Hatton tries to box him, then give Floyd another W.
