Maybe the crazy boxing purist who have no lives, lose, but not everyone. I can say that many casual fans came away very happy and entertained after the Pacquaio-Margarito fight. Plenty of MMA fans enjoyed that fight. Sure, this fight may not prove whos the best fighter, it probably doesn't have any effect on the mental masturbation that is the P4P list but their styles will entertain. Everyone said Maidana-Morales was a pointless fight and was more of a mismatch than the Mosley-Pacquaio fight. But what happened in that fight? Morales was revered as more shot than Mosley. I was ok with Floyd fighting a shot Mosley so i'll keep it consistent and say I'm ok with Manny fighting shot Mosley. Its not like he was damaged in his last two fights so I think he's still as "good" as he was in the Mayweather fight. The way I see it, every fight is pointless for these guys if the fight is not against each other. But I'll watch any time they fight because its pure beauty to see these guys do work.
I'm not a fan of watching someone get their ass beat viciously. It's fun once in a while, but watching the same guy being matched up against less than challenging opponents, is boring. What is the point in putting Pacquiao in there against someone who we all know he's going to beat up? Yeah the casual fans eat it up and buy the PPVs, but so what, big deal. Pacquiao is the best right? Well then I want to see him fight guys who can actually give him some competition! He could have fought Andre Berto, that is competition, young, fast, slick and strong. His style could have caused problems for Pacquiao, but why didn't they put him there with him? Because Arum is more concerned with keeping his pockets fat and milking his cash cow, than having him step in that ring against someone who MIGHT actually have a chance at beating him even though I'm sure Pac could beat him by decision. I get that boxing is a business first, because if they catered to hardcore boxing fans, they probably wouldn't sell as many PPVs. But I don't like to hear people who only watch Pacquiao fights, start talking **** about how he is the best, yet they don't watch boxing ANY other time. I enjoy the occasional MMA fight, I like watching people go at it like animals in a cage, it can be fun. But I like watching the art of boxing even more. Watching someone getting beat up just isn't my thing. And me being a true boxing fan automatically makes you assume that I don't have a life?
Don't get it twisted, Mixed Martial Arts is as much of an art as boxing. Off course boxing fans will never admit that because they tune in for like 2-3 MMA matches and label it animals in a cage.
So boxing purists who don't like this fight and find it pointless have no lives? What an ignorant statement. Most true boxing fans hate this fight and have hated it for some time. Check any major boxing board for fans reaction and writers articles and it's very indicitive of the negative reactions to this mismatch. Anyone with half a brain knows this is a gigantic waste of everyone's time. You think a "shot" Mosely is as "good" as he was after getting dominated for Floyd for 12 rounds and fighting through a hideous draw with Mora? That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Once boxers start to decline they're done. Your Morales comparison isn't valid because it was a change in weight class because Terible could no longer safely make 35
Yeah, I just shook my head and laughed at that comment. Especially considering the fact that the dude making the comment is trying to make a career in pro wrestling.
The Prince of Dubai offered Floyd $50 million to fight Manny there. Floyd is just about bankrupt. I'll be stunned if this fight doesn't come off in the next year, unless Floyd enjoys soup kitchens.
Fair enough You're correct. That said, the reason people thought Erik was done was because his legs were gone and he was trying to move up to a weight well beyond his prime. Morales ended up carrying the weight much better then anyone expected. It was a turn back the clock performance a la Hopkins. Terible wasn;t weight drained and he was in fron of a very limited guy who's biggest asset was his punching power. Erik looked very shot. His life style played a huge role in this as well. Erik is a huge drinker and partier. He was well out of his prime age and weight class. Mosely has been **** (outside of the margs fight) for a while. He needed a last second KO after getting outboxed by Mayorga. You're fooling yourself if you think he has anything more then a punchers chance. Watching Manny versus MAB, Morales and JMM was great. He's a joke now whose afraid to fight anyone with a chance. he's as bad as Floyd. I did get you mixed up with another poster.
I find it really amusing how Angkor Wat and King 1 practically flood every thread about Pacquiao. I mean, just search the forum for Pacquiao and you'll see them responding to every one-liner in a thread with essays. It's incredible.
It's cute you notice. Unfortunately, you're only conveying half turths as they pertain to your argument. It's every boxing thread. Not just your hero Manny. I know your feelings get hurt whenever somebody doesn't slob his knob like you do, but you'll have to deal with it.
Well I wouldn't go as far as to call those two, jokes. They've proved themselves already. They took the necessary fights to get them to this point. So if anyone can coast and take big money fights, it's Manny and Floyd. Theyre not Amir Khan or Berto in which they have to prove they belong at that high level. Even though I believe the business side is what hurts boxing the most, boxing is still a business. So in that sense, it wouldn't be a smart move to take a risky fight that could jeopardize the biggest fight ever. I believe they're just milking the cash and playing it safe until they eventually fight in 2012. Its the only fight fans truly want from them. Any other fights these guys take are just tune ups for their battle.
You obviously can't read. I've been talking the same **** about Floyd as I have about Manny for months now. I also fail to see how saying i think Floyd would beat Manny makes me "the biggest Gayweather fan girl." What a lame insult anyways. Are you 12 years old? It's laughable to watch some of you get all worked up because you can't handle someone who doesn't worship Manny Pacquiao.
Obviously, they are both HOF fighters. I was referencing the sad sideshows that they've been carrying on for the past couple of years now. Floyd acting like an idiot outside of the ring and Manny fighting guys coming off losses in it. It's become such a joke that many people don't even care anymore if they ever fight. The business side clearly hurts boxing. Whether it's GBP and Top Rank refusing to work with each other or Arum seeing Gamboa icing guys and getting cold feet about putting him in with Juanma, it hurts the sport. I'm not sure if they are going to fight. Floyd's has been inactive and I don't think Manny is going to agree to random testing. Both guys have such huge egos that I don't think they're willing to concede their main objective. Personally, I don't care anymore. If they fight, great, I will definitely be there, but until that point comes there's no point in worrying about it.
Blah blah blah. You sound like a freaking broken record. Everyone know the biggest chicken here is Gayweather. So stop with your pretentious BS and continued riding his dick like you've always been. Pretending to hop off his bandwagon so that to make your repetitive BS attack against Manny doesn't sound personal when deep down you're the biggest Gayweather fan boy. I don't worship Manny. He's humble and give a tremendous good fight. Stop with your stupid hating because you just sound like a sore losers like all the flomos.
It's also funny that the only boxing threads that matter to the general hangout forum crowd has to do with a fight between pacquiao: if you actually were a boxing fan yourself you might see that those two guys you are calling out forgot more about boxing than you'll ever know. So keep your pacquiao fandom reined in because true boxing fans couldn't care less this fight.
