So was Chico Corrales and we all know what Floyd did to him. It is a weak chin. His legs had nothing to do with it. Plus after the first knockdown he got up way too fast. Everybody who knows boxing knows that when you get knocked down you roll over onto your stomach, then up on all fours then on one knee. Take the 8 count then get up so you can recuperate a little. He figured he could get up right away and I think that hurt his chances too. The initial punch that wobbled him was a jab! He has always been known for having a weak chin. He has even been wobbled in sparring. If Paulie was able to touch him and swell his eyes up and cut him, someone with power and similar style and speed could give Khan problems. He is still very young and has a lot to improve on. Roach is doing a good job with him though.
HBO is r****ded and yes Jacobs is a star in the making. He has very good skills and good power. I would like to see him in there against Pavlik possibly. I think he could take Pavlik pretty easy.
I was at the fight and I have to say I'm impressed by Khan. The first four rounds Paulie made him look dumb and frustrated him with good footwork and head movement. But I think he tired down and Khan started walking him down in the 6th. He didn't throw a lot of punches but when they were they were accurate and solid. He has good potential but will always have a hard time with Alexander and Bradley just because they are just as fast and athletic as him. His fans on the other hand are ridiculous. "Khan's Army" is a group of drunken hooligans from England but then again what do you expect. I'm shocked they had the nerve to wave Pakistan flags a week after the guy tried to blow up times square. A lot of New Yorkers were very turned off by that. Also, tons of fights in the stands, even between girls. Alcohol and contact sports really don't mix well at all.
They told us in advance they were only going to show the highlights so it was not a surprise. That said, it looks like we will have a big title shot by the end of the year. Ideally, we would like to get a fight or two where Danny can get some rounds. He's only had 3 rounds since coming of hand surgery.
Funny you mentioned this. I wouldl ove that fight but Danny doesn't draw enough yet and that gives Pavlik's team a way out of the fight. Maybe next year but I think Pavlik is moving up 10 168. I don't think he can make 160 many more times if at all. The only guy I would stay away from right now at 160 for Danny is Martinez. He needs another year to be ready for him in my opinion.
Ya Giovanni Lorenzo got blatantly robbed overseas against Sebastian Sylvester. It's a shame that they're not building up a fan base for Danny I hope he doesn't end up like Paul Williams where he gets put in so many random places besides home that nobody comes to watch him fight.
He actually has a decent following for how poorly his fights have been placed. They said they would like ot put his championship fight in MSG so hopefully they will keep us fighting in NYC.
That would be good then by the time he fights a big fight he could bring a lot of people to the Garden. It was crazy that at the fight honestly it was about 50/50 Paulie people and Khan's people and only 4400 total in his own hometown that surprised me. Then someone like Cotto who isn't even from NYC can show up and pack the Garden (and soon Yankee Stadium) no problem.
Palestine flag correct, since his father is from palestine. Yuri Foreman (Israel) vs Khan (parents from Palestine).
