i disagree with you. marquez just recently got some mexican following after his last fight because it seems like all of the other mexican fighters are going down like flies. my uncle who lives in mexico city, who is a HUGE boxing fan had never seen marquez fight and had barely heard of him before i made him watch the diaz fight.

so no star power is accurate assesment. i think he needs to knock mayweather out in order to win. if mayweather just dances around in the ring wihtout giving a fight he might as well retire again.

IMHO Marquez became popular with his fellow countrymen after his defeat of Marco Antonio Barrera (even though he was on a decline) I can't believe your uncle didn't watch Marquez vs Pacquiao if he's a "huge" boxing fan.

More and more I agree that Marquez has to knock out Mayweather to win this in Las Vegas (Money May's hometown)

Anyone going to watch this in the movie theatre?

Looks like it's only playing at 3 local theatres

    AMC Willowbrook 24
    AMC Deerbrook 24
    Cinemark Webster

He has no star power because his fights have been shown on HBO Plus in Mexico and not Televisa or TV Azteca. The star boxers in Mexico are Saul Alvarez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Jorge Arce, Edgar Sosa, Humberto Soto.

well my uncle lives in mexico city where marquez is from so this further proves my point that even if he is an average boxing fan, he still hadnt heard or seen marquez fight. i mean you would expect at huge boxing fan to know him, but a popular fighter should be a household name to even the most casual fan.

and most mexicans follow certain fighters so if they werent hyping up marquez fights in mexico it probably means not many people were watching or the fight wasnt being offered.

anyway im about to watch 24/7 and get ready for the fight. i almost dont care who wins i just wanna see a good toe to toe fight and hopefully 12 rounds of it. like i said before if mayweather is just gonna get an early lead and then dance around its gonna be a long boring fight

I won some tickets to go watch the fight at Champps in Uptown tomorrow, so that's where I'll be. I think the 24/7 finale is tonight right?

I'm not sure, I have to go pick them up later. I'm just guessing they are charging for entrance tomorrow since they are ordering PPV fights. I'd be pleasantly surprised if it actually includes food/drinks.

Most of my buddies and I are psyched that there is a good fight to watch. It's been a little while and I am so freaking tired of UFC. I'm tired of them manufacturing contenders in order to sell these lame pay-per-views. I'm also tired of watching grown men get sweaty and wrestle around on a mat and pretend it's entertaining.

So, do you prefer watching young boys get swety and wrestle around on a mat?

Hopefully Mayweather wins so that he'll get his ass kicked by Pac Man.

Apparently the weight limit was changed to 147.. so he really came in 1 pound under the limit. The inital agreement was a catchweight of 144.

I don't really see a problem with it, all this catchweight BS is r****ded. You challenge someone in another weight class, then you move to that weight class, plain and simple. Catchweights are ****ing stupid.

Regardless, Marquez is getting ripped up, no matter what the weight is.

This fight card is not all about Mayweather and Marquez. There are some extremely exciting fights on this card. Chris John versus Rocky Juarez should be a great if not classic fight in its own right. Plus Vicente Escobedo against Michael Katsidis, another excellent fight.

If anything you guys should have some interest in Rocky Juarez.
