As do I, his training for this fight is rather, intense, it's been reported that he's cut down to 3-4 cigarettes a day . Here is the link to the Countdown To De La Hoya-Mayorga, it's a documentary-style 30 minute show that gives some background to the story of the fight, excellent stuff. Split into 3 parts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDUpaX0PhAU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgfJU7O5pr4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeicYDDSodI
thats not gonna happen, DeLa Hoya is hell bent on destroying Mayorga. we all know what happened last time a boxer pissed off Oscar, if u dont remember, then theres a boxer by the name of Fernando Vargas that u might wanna ask.
the problem with mayorga isnt his skill, its his lack of maturity. as u witnessed in the fight against Tito where he got anihilated, but he really just let himself get his ass kicked. hes the dennis rodman of boxing. oscar WILL retire his ass. cuz he obviously didnt get enough from Tito.
As do I. If Mayorga spoke English he would be a massive celebrity. Here are the current odds courtesy of SportsBook.com Oscar De La Hoya (-330) vs. Ricardo Mayorga (+270)
I try to split the $50 with friends, and usually there are places like Dave N' Busters or many strip clubs that play the fight for $10 or $15 cover. StreamTVNow is always an option as well.
Vargas, Mosley to meet again Story Tools: Print Email Blog This Associated Press Posted: 54 minutes ago LOS ANGELES (AP) - Shane Mosley and Fernando Vargas will meet July 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in a rematch of their bout two months ago. Mosley stopped Vargas in the 10th round on Feb. 25 in Las Vegas. "I'm thrilled to be fighting Fernando Vargas and once again proving that I'm the superior fighter," Mosley said Thursday. "To me, there was no controversy about our first fight because one look at his face showed who the winner was. I stopped him once, and I'll do it again." The 34-year-old Mosley, from Pomona, Calif., has a 42-4 record with 36 knockouts. The 28-year-old Vargas, from Oxnard, Calif., is 26-3 with 22 knockouts. "I was winning the fight with one eye," Vargas said of the earlier bout. "If I was him and I would've seen me, I would've gone for broke. But he didn't because he felt the wrath of what I carry in my right and left hands. A very few minor adjustments and I will knock him out this time. He knows I was winning. The world knows I was winning. I was winning with one eye." The bout, promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Main Events, will be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View. this summer is loaded with high profile fights
Mayorga DOES speak English, but he doesn't want to. Dude, explain what those numbers mean. What is a minus and what is a plus, and what happens when I bet something and my fighter loses?
It's about 300k, I guess as good as the resolution on Launch Music Videos, sometimes it buffers a lot during PPV matches since so many people are trying to watch. There is nothing like HD boxing it is worth going out of your way to see it.
Felix Trinidad, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Erik Morales do the same thing, they knew fluent English but choose to spoke Spanish on air because of pride I guess, it makes them look more Latino to their fans, more authentic. This is what the odds mean. De La Hoya is -330 That means you have to bet $330 on him to win $100. Thus, if he wins, and had bet $330 on him, you get $430, the $100 you won plus the $330 you bet on him. Mayorga is +270 You have to bet $100 to win $270. Thus, if he wins and you had bet $100 on him, you get $370, the $270 you won plus the $100 you bet on him. It works in ratios also, I think the minimum bet amount is usually $5, for example I bet $10 on Mayorga when I was in Vegas, thus if he wins you get $37 total, the $27 won plus the $10 I bet on him.
Thanks for the explanation. I don't bet like that and won't. I like to have 12 people buy numbers at random out of a hat and wait for the entire fight to be over. I am surprised the PREVIEW stuff linked above did NOT mention Julio Cesar Chavez vs. De La Hoya at all... that was De La Hoya's turning point... not Trinidad...
Freitas wins WBO lightweight title MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) - Acelino Freitas won the vacant WBO lightweight title Saturday night with a split decision over Zahir Raheem. Freitas (38-1), from Brazil, used his jab, overhand right and cleaner punching to claim the fourth world title of his career. The judges scored the fight 115-113 and 116-112 for Freitas. One judge had Raheem winning 115-113. Freitas reclaimed the title he lost to Diego Corrales in 2004. Corrales declined a mandatory defence of the title against Freitas and was stripped of his belt. Raheem (27-2), from Philadelphia, earned the right to fight for the title with an impressive unanimous decision over Erik Morales in October. Freitas was the aggressor through the early part of the fight. He used his jab and overhand right to keep Raheem measured. Freitas connected regularly with the right hand and a straight right in the fourth round opening up a small cut under Raheem's right eye. Raheem steadied himself in the sixth using his jab to temporarily stop Freitas from coming forward. In another fight, former Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward remained undefeated, stopping Andy Kolle at the end of the sixth round for a TKO in their middleweight bout. Ward, a 2004 gold medallists from Oakland, dominated the fight for six rounds before Kolle's corner threw in the towel after the sixth round. Ward (9-0) used a devastating mix of power punches and skill to stop Kolle (9-1), a Minnesota native. It was Ward's first bout scheduled for more than eight rounds, and it was supposed to be the toughest test of his career so far. After feeling out Kolle for the first two rounds, Ward started attacking in the third. He wobbled Kolle in the final seconds of the sixth round, and Kolle's corner wouldn't let him come out for the seventh.
Is this a misprint or has Andre Ward changed his name to Andrew? He looks good, he may have a bright future ahead of him.
