I'm shocked that nobody has chimed in with the typical "Boxing sucks, it's boring, who's Tyson fighting next??" yet.

Whew...almost forgot about that fight. I was living south of Mexico City at the time, and I've never seen people more upset at the outcome of a fight. It was almost like the entire country of Mexico lost to the US in battle. Good grief they were pissed.

BTW, Lamon Brewster is fighting tonight.

He is one of the heavyweight title holders, and it should be a good fight. :)

...it didn't hurt as much as when my Edwin Valero thread died an ignominous death.

Any thoughts on the Rocky Juarez-Marco Antonio Barrera fight?

Valero is the man, but did you catch his last fight against Genaro Trasancos? Valero knocked him out, but in the 2nd round. That was a badass streak though.

Barrera Vs. Juarez, I cant believe Rocky would take this fight. He's too early in his carrer for this type of fight.

Mayorga Vs. De La Hoya-De La Hoya EasyTk6 or 7
Mayweather Vs. Juda-Mayweahter is gonna put on a clinic.

Juarez has nothing to lose against Barrera, because I doubt too many people would give him a chance to win.

After losing his title to Soto, Juarez needs something to get back some of his hypes.

He is young. If he can just hold his own and have a good showing, he would have plenty more opportunities.

If he loses, so what, he is just too inexperienced, too young.

Not just good, but probably the most entertaining HW matchup I've watched since Klitschko vs. Lewis or Brewster v. Klitschko

Great bout - the HW division mihgt suck but that was great to watch.

Absolutely. There were a lot of action, and both men shown a lot of heart. Man, I don't know how many punches both Lyakhovich and Brewster took tonight, and they still kept standing. It was very exciting. Even though after getting hurt badly and wobbled, Brewster really didn't have much left for the last few rounds.

It was still the best heavyweight fight in recent memory.

I am actually headed to Las Vegas next weekend to watch the Mayweather/Judah fight. Judah has a small chance since he is very fast and has power in both hands, it makes for an intriguing fight. I'm tempted to put money down on Judah. Also, the undercard is loaded with Juan Diaz vs. Jose Miguel Cotto and Jorge Arce vs. Rosendo Alvarez. Lots of big fights on the horizon.

April 8: Zab Judah vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (HBO PPV)
    Jorge Arce vs. Rosendo Alvarez
Juan Diaz vs. Jose Miguel Cotto
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. TBA
April 22: Wladimir Klitschko vs. Chris Byrd (HBO)
May 6: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Ricardo Mayorga (HBO PPV)
May 13: Ricky Hatton vs. Luis Collazo (HBO)
May 20: Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Rocky Juarez (HBO)
    Jorge Barrios vs. Janos Nagy
June 3: Diego Corralles vs. Jose Luis Castillo III (Showtime)
June 10: Bernard Hopkins vs. Antonio Tarver (HBO PPV)
June 17: Winky Wright vs. Jermain Taylor (HBO)
June 24: Calvin Brock vs. Timur Ibragimov (HBO)
    Joel Julio vs. Carlos Quintana
July 15: Fernando Vargas vs. Shane Mosely II (HBO PPV)
July 22: Arturo Gatti vs. Carlos Baldomir (HBO)
September 16: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (HBO PPV)
October 28: Manny Pacquiao vs. Erik Morales III (HBO PPV)

Is DLH vs. Pretty Boy Floyd signed and definite?

    I'd like to see that.

If Mayweather and De La Hoya both win their upcoming fights they are supposed to fight that day. It would be the biggest non-heavyweight fight since De La Hoya-Trinidad and is on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day.

It would have to be at 154 right? I don't know if FM is ready to move up to that, also because there's some potential big money fights left for him at 147 if Cotto, Hatton, JLC move up. I'm skeptical that it will work out.

All of the various boxing commisions should join together, and then make me commisioner. I would fix boxing and then it would become ten times more popular. As it is now, boxing is a mess.
