I think frank mir might be more skilled that Lesnar, but unless he gets lucky and gets a choke hold, a guy like lesnar who IMO is not as skilled as Mir can kill him.

 

Again you are missing the point. The sport is Mixed Martial Arts so by definition it is a sport where others people come from other combative arts.
Lesnar was an outstanding collegiate wrestler and that translates well to MMA because wrestling is a big component of MMA.

Anway if you are upholding a sport for how exclusive the skill set is do you think that baseball is the greatest sport since a super-athlete like Michael Jordan couldn't do well at it?

But yes, many MMA guys wouldn't be able to compete in a boxing match because the skills they have don't relate. You don't get to wrestle, don't get to submit, etc. But the same is the reverse. Bernard Hopkins can say whatever he wants about the MMA, but if he got into the cage with a guy with good wrestling and ground technique he'd die. He can dance all he wants, someone would hit him with a takedown and submit him or use some good ol' ground and pound.

They are two entirely different sports with very different skills.

 

And Klitschko would get cut from any NFL team he tried out for and if he stepped into the cage he'd get his arse handed to him.

This is an MMA guy, and what is he saying?

Look, the truth is that MMA is still a young and evolving sport. Most of the guys in MMA now started off with a single martial art as a background like wrestling or jiu-jitsu and then started to learn other skills in order to compete. A lot of UFC guys aren't great strikers because they started off with grappling backgrounds and are just picking up striking technique as they go along.

In 10-20 years, when the kids that are learning all of these MMA skills together are fighting, we're going to be laughing at the guy's fighting today.

The next generation of MMA fighters will have skill sets similar to Anderson Silva, GSP and BJ Penn. All around great fighters that could move into other combat sports and do very well.
