I had me one a these from Academy.. I guess it works alright, but it doesn't go with any of my pants.. so sometimes I don't wear it too much. Put some chalk on that thing and you'll be skating all over the place. However I didn't realize about the potential danger of putting some chalk under your shoes is to others. Good thing I tried it only once. That other guy whom I saw doing it wasn't too shabby, but he cheated with the chalk. My friends and I sometimes always try to sneak playing with our flip flops or tennis shoes at the UC. However I hate the guys who wear those black dress shoes and put black skid marks all over the lanes when they slide.
277 is my High on Wii bowling, but my 5 year old has the family high of 288. This year the same poker group joined a generations league where it is fathers/mothers and kids. One of the guys in our group had no kids, so we used both my boys....it was a blast..... My 5 year old got bumpers, but my 9 year old had to learn to roll without em....took a while but he got it... This is the ball I finally figured out after one year....and I get major pin action now...woot. DD
as stupid as it sounds... anyone want to describe, the best way they can, how to curve a ball. my average, bowling straight, is about 150 and like you said above, hitting 9s all the time. the only way i can curve it is by putting cupping the ball between my wrist and hand but that has no accuracy. bowling is a fav of mine so anyway to make it better, im all for.
The problem is that a straight ball deflects once it hits the pocket and doesn't drive through the pocket. A good right handed ball will drive through and hit the 1-3-5-9 pins on the way through. I have a little natural hook and this ball just enhances it.....the key for me was starting on the far left side of the lane and approaching the 2nd right arrow from that angle....it got my ball in the proper pocket position.....even Brooklyn's...overhooks....get more pin action now. If you are throwing the ball naturally you should have a little hook aas you release your thumb, then pull your fingers up and out of the ball, it should produce some spin... The best way to get a hook if you have been bowling straight is to get a counter weighted ball that helps create the hook but don't get frustrated....because it throws completely different than a straight ball...which you will need for spares. Actually, R2K would probably be a better person to answer this, as he has the hardware and sounds a lot more knowledgeable than I...take it away R2k. DD
I got a 9 and shook the last pin once when I threw the ball under the leg. This lady (it was a UH engineering outing) that probably works at UH's engineering program got so excited and ran up to me and pushed me into the lane.. I've never known how slippery the lane really was until that moment. One other time I got a spare throwing it under the leg both times.. and last time I bowled I was finally learning how to spin the ball under the leg.
Good job by DaDarkOne, no clear that's-what-she-said'able quotes. We'll just try this one: "That's what SHE said . Or HE said. Oh, there's GIL, Oscar's roommate. I wonder if HE knows. " Spoiler
So far in our poker group challenge for which team finishes higher in the summer rankings (Big Steak dinner on the line). Our team is 24-11....and the other team is 17-18......we have been playing great and winning close ones and they have been struggling. I can just taste that Medium rare porterhouse baby !! DD
I used to bowl competitively. I quit about 5 1/2 years ago. I was like 15 ish and had a 165 average. Throw a crazy hook. I still have my last ball. My fingers barely fit (it's drilled for fingertip and counter-weighted anyways). I've thrown maybe 10 games in 5 years, but in those 10, I think I've averaged about a 180. I should start up again.
234 high, 192 average 15 years ago... Have an Ebonite with the rubber finger tips, my "curve" ball... and a Brunswick straight ball "Black Beauty"... Old school. I may get back to it now that you guys bring this up. EDIT: I want one of these now...
