Pick outright winners and spread winners. I have bolded by spread winner picks if my outright winner is different I star it. Bolded is spread winner, I have starPick outright winners TANGERINE BOWL @ Orlando, FL Kansas +11½ N Carolina St -11½ (Best QB in the land shows off) FORT WORTH BOWL @ Fort Worth, TX *Boise St -11 TCU +11 (I think Boise is better, but not 11 points better) LAS VEGAS BOWL @ Las Vegas, NV New Mexico +3 Oregon State -3 (I have not seen NM but OSU is OK so I go with them) HAWAII BOWL @ Honolulu, HI Houston +10½ Hawaii -10½ (Mongo points, but enough more by Haw) MOTOR CITY BOWL @ Detroit, MI Northwestern +7 *Bowling Green -7 (Weird that a Mac team would be a TD fav over a Big 10 team in a bowl huh? I still like BG to win but would not give up 7 points) INSIGHT BOWL @ Phoenix, AZ California +3 *Virginia Tech -3 (I normally like the Hokies in Bowls, but Cal can score, may even win outright) CONTINENTAL TIRE BOWL @ Charlotte, NC Virginia -3 Pittsburgh +3 (I like Pitt a little better, especially with points) ALAMO BOWL @ San Antonio, TX Michigan State +3½ (-120) Nebraska -3½ (EVEN) (I like Nebraska and their D) HOUSTON BOWL @ Houston, TX Navy +13 *Texas Tech -13 (Could be Tech in a laugher, but Navy could play keep away on the ground and score right with them) HOLIDAY BOWL @ San Diego, CA Washington State +9½ *Texas -9½ (Texas is better but the spread is too much--could be a classic trap game for Texas that is closer than it should be because the other guys are so much more motivated) SILICON VALLEY CLASSIC @ San Jose, CA Fresno State +3 *UCLA -3 (I don't like either team but have to make some picks) MUSIC CITY BOWL @ Nashville, TN Wisconsin +3 Auburn -3 (A little unsure about this one, I just think Auburn has more all around talent is starting to play better) SUN BOWL @ El Paso, TX Minnesota -4 Oregon +4 (Don't know why Minnesotta is favored, their D is atrocious) LIBERTY BOWL @ Memphis, TN Utah -2 Southern Mississippi +2 (Southern Miss and defense) INDEPENDENCE BOWL @ Shreveport, LA Missouri +2½ Arkansas -2½ (Tough call, I think the Pigs just have more weapons) SAN FRANCISCO BOWL @ San Francisco, CA Boston College EVEN Colorado State (I like BVP as a college QB and leader, but BC came on strong last half of year and has too much I think) OUTBACK BOWL @ Tampa, FL Iowa +4 (-115) Florida -4 (Florida, speed kills, remember Iowa vs USC last year?) GATOR BOWL @ Jacksonville, FL West Virginia +3½ (-115) Maryland -3½ (-105) (Mountaineers have a tough team and a physical offense) CAPITAL ONE BOWL @ Orlando, FL Purdue +3 Georgia -3 (Georgia, speed kills) ROSE BOWL @ Pasadena, CA Michigan +7 (-115) *USC -7 (-105) (Michigan is very well rounded, they may not win, but I would not want any team to have to cover a full TD against them) ORANGE BOWL @ Miami, FL Florida State -2 Miami (Florida) +2 (The game of sucky QBs, but Miami has the better and more oppertunistic defense) COTTON BOWL @ Dallas, TX Oklahoma State +2 [/b]Mississippi -2 [/b] (OSU is not a bad all around team, but Miss is stronger. It isn't just Manning, Ole Miss D is pretty fast and good too) PEACH BOWL @ Atlanta, GA Clemson +6 Tennessee -6 (EVEN) (Tenn just better, I don't see how Clemson will score) FIESTA BOWL @ Tempe, AZ *Kansas State -7 Ohio State +7 (Too many points versus that OSU defense--outright I'll go with KSU by a nose but Bucks may win) HUMANITARIAN BOWL @ Boise, ID Tulsa +8 *Georgia Tech -8 (I don't know much about anything about Tulsa, but GT should not be forced to cover more than a TD to any bowl eligible team I figure) SUGAR BOWL @ New Orleans, LA LSU +6½ Oklahoma -6½ (LSU will win outright, a TD is a crazy spread for this game) Get your picks in by the 22nd, will update at the half way mark or so?
Thats cause Northwestern SHOULD be a MAC team. The Big Ten should drop NW and Indiana then got get Notre Dame.
I like the following...I'm 2 for 2 so far.... NC State Boise State (No contest - my hot pick) Oregan St. The over in UH vs. Hawaii (Hawaii will win) Texas Tech Texas Southern Miss Florida Georgia USC (Michigan is over rated) Ole Miss K. State (No Contest) Oklahoma (White's Last Stand)
My prediction is that there will be a controversy over who the "real" national champion is after all these silly bowls are over. I know, I'm really going out on a limb with that one...
Good point. I had football on my mind when I wrote that. Indinan's football team is so bad that ESPN didn't write a season preview for them.
TANGERINE BOWL @ Orlando, FL Kansas +11½ N Carolina St -11½ FORT WORTH BOWL @ Fort Worth, TX *Boise St -11 TCU +11 LAS VEGAS BOWL @ Las Vegas, NV New Mexico +3 Oregon State -3 HAWAII BOWL @ Honolulu, HI Houston +10½ Hawaii -10½ *I like Hawaii to win but Houston to cover MOTOR CITY BOWL @ Detroit, MI Northwestern +7 Bowling Green -7 INSIGHT BOWL @ Phoenix, AZ California +3 Virginia Tech -3 CONTINENTAL TIRE BOWL @ Charlotte, NC Virginia -3 Pittsburgh +3 ALAMO BOWL @ San Antonio, TX Michigan State +3½ (-120) Nebraska -3½ (EVEN) *I like MSU to win outright HOUSTON BOWL @ Houston, TX Navy +13 Texas Tech -13 HOLIDAY BOWL @ San Diego, CA Washington State +9½ Texas -9½ *Texas will win but not cover SILICON VALLEY CLASSIC @ San Jose, CA Fresno State +3 UCLA -3 *Fresno to win outright MUSIC CITY BOWL @ Nashville, TN Wisconsin +3 Auburn -3 SUN BOWL @ El Paso, TX Minnesota -4 Oregon +4 *Oregon to win outright LIBERTY BOWL @ Memphis, TN Utah -2 Southern Mississippi +2 INDEPENDENCE BOWL @ Shreveport, LA Missouri +2½ Arkansas -2½ SAN FRANCISCO BOWL @ San Francisco, CA Boston College EVEN Colorado State OUTBACK BOWL @ Tampa, FL Iowa +4 (-115) Florida -4 GATOR BOWL @ Jacksonville, FL West Virginia +3½ (-115) Maryland -3½ (-105) *WV to win outright CAPITAL ONE BOWL @ Orlando, FL Purdue +3 Georgia -3 ROSE BOWL @ Pasadena, CA Michigan +7 (-115) USC -7 (-105) *Michigan wins outright ORANGE BOWL @ Miami, FL Florida State -2 Miami (Florida) +2 *Why is FSU favored again? COTTON BOWL @ Dallas, TX Oklahoma State +2 Mississippi -2 *OSU in a shootout PEACH BOWL @ Atlanta, GA Clemson +6 Tennessee -6 (EVEN) FIESTA BOWL @ Tempe, AZ Kansas State -7 Ohio State +7 *KSU's playing as good as anyone right now. They'll win by 14 or more. HUMANITARIAN BOWL @ Boise, ID Tulsa +8 Georgia Tech -8 *The storybook year probably ends for Tulsa...but I like them to cover at least. SUGAR BOWL @ New Orleans, LA LSU +6½ Oklahoma -6½ *OU wins a close one
Then they'd be the Big 9. It's funny though that they're called the big ten yet still incorporate an 11 in their logo.
I've always wondered what would happen if the Big Ten (11) added a team. Or for that matter, what if the Big 12 dropped a team.
I don't know why you have to insult Michigan and OSU. They might not be UT, but they are not -1s each. BTW I don't pick who I want to win, I pick who I think will win so no Boos!!!j/k I think T-Tech might win a blowout, but Navy has a good rushing attack. That could keep them within 2 TDs--at least that is my reasoning and I am sticking with it at least through the 1st half Mduke, pretty cool of you to pick LSU with the points against your Sooners. Do you think if you turn your heart all the way off that you might actually pick LSU to win? For the life of me I think the spread in the Rose Bowl and Sugar are both way out of wack. LSU has the speed to match OU and is probably more physical. OU is going to have to play lights out I think to win, especially in New Orleans. Michigan's offensive balance is a load to deal with too, especially if Navarre is sharp, I don't think they should be a TD dog to anyone. Could be wrong about this one (I feel much more solid about LSU than Mich because I know what LSU's defense has been much more consistent and dominant) and Michigan could turn into an Iowa last year (USC destroyed them with their speed), but I think Michigan is a lot more physical and speedy that that Iowa team. It is shaping up to be a great college football season--at least considering no playoffs. Get your picks in, ya'll have a few days left.
Of course they can win....but you know I won't pick against this OU team. I don't think people were that far off when they were saying this was one of OU's best all-time teams....The closest defense talent-wise they've faced to LSU this year is probably Texas (which really scares me) All of that said, I just think 6.5 points is too big of a spread for a game with 2 of the best college defenses I've ever seen. If USC was in this game against OU or LSU, I'd take OU or LSU with the points....
TANGERINE BOWL @ Orlando, FL Kansas +11½ ***N Carolina St -11½ I'd want the Big XII to win, but NC State is just a better team. FORT WORTH BOWL @ Fort Worth, TX ***Boise St -11 TCU +11 Boise should drop 40 on them LAS VEGAS BOWL @ Las Vegas, NV New Mexico +3 ***Oregon State -3 OSU in better conference, so I guess... HAWAII BOWL @ Honolulu, HI Houston +10½ ***Hawaii -10½ Hawaii's better. MOTOR CITY BOWL @ Detroit, MI Northwestern +7 ***Bowling Green -7 NW sucks. I don't like the Big 10. INSIGHT BOWL @ Phoenix, AZ ***California +3 Virginia Tech -3 Va Tech SHOULD handle them, but they've probably started getting ready for next season. CONTINENTAL TIRE BOWL @ Charlotte, NC ***Virginia -3 Pittsburgh +3 Pitt has no D. Larry can only take you so far. ALAMO BOWL @ San Antonio, TX ***Michigan State +3½ (-120) Nebraska -3½ (EVEN) Smoker is better than Lord. HOUSTON BOWL @ Houston, TX Navy +13 ***Texas Tech -13 No problem for Tech. HOLIDAY BOWL @ San Diego, CA Washington State +9½ ***Texas -9½ Texas could easily lose. WSU is good. I just have to pick Texas anyway. With a team having 3 weeks to scheme against Reese and Davis, I'd be surprised if this game is not close or a WSU win. SILICON VALLEY CLASSIC @ San Jose, CA Fresno State +3 ***UCLA -3 PAC 10 > WAC MUSIC CITY BOWL @ Nashville, TN Wisconsin +3 ***Auburn -3 It's in Tennessee. SUN BOWL @ El Paso, TX Minnesota -4 ***Oregon +4 Never thought much of Minnesota. Maroney looks pretty good though. LIBERTY BOWL @ Memphis, TN ***Utah -2 Southern Mississippi +2 Urban Meyer. INDEPENDENCE BOWL @ Shreveport, LA Missouri +2½ ***Arkansas -2½ This could be a pretty good game. SAN FRANCISCO BOWL @ San Francisco, CA Boston College EVEN ***Colorado State Van Pelt is gully. OUTBACK BOWL @ Tampa, FL Iowa +4 (-115) ***Florida -4 SEC > Big 10 GATOR BOWL @ Jacksonville, FL ***West Virginia +3½ (-115) Maryland -3½ (-105) W. Virginia is solid. Maryland is blah. CAPITAL ONE BOWL @ Orlando, FL Purdue +3 ***Georgia -3 Another possible good game, but maybe uga will expose another overrated Big X team. Considering UGA was so close to a BCS game, they should beat them bad. ROSE BOWL @ Pasadena, CA Michigan +7 (-115) ***USC -7 (-105) Michigan is solid, USC is just better. Less conservative coaches and ridiculous talent, plus tons of motivation. ORANGE BOWL @ Miami, FL ***Florida State -2 Miami (Florida) +2 I was going to pick Miami, but going FSU for no reason. COTTON BOWL @ Dallas, TX ***Oklahoma State +2 Mississippi -2 OSU has been underperforming. They'll have a lot of fans and be happy to be down there. Maybe they'll play up to their potential here. PEACH BOWL @ Atlanta, GA Clemson +6 ***Tennessee -6 (EVEN) The other UT...another underachiever. Should whoop them. FIESTA BOWL @ Tempe, AZ ***Kansas State -7 Ohio State +7 I hate OSU. HUMANITARIAN BOWL @ Boise, ID Tulsa +8 ***Georgia Tech -8 Supposed to have a really good D. SUGAR BOWL @ New Orleans, LA LSU +6½ ***Oklahoma -6½ As much as I want to pick LSU, I just can't. I hope they win, but with this much time, I think OU will be ready and motivated. Unless the other Stoops was really, really important for that D, this game should be pretty close.
