Paul Finebaum said on ESPN that Alabama fans didn't care as much about this game and were more concerned about Auburn losing because AU fans have really been rubbing it in since the Iron Bowl. That the bragging would continue another year if AU wins the BCS Title game is something they cannot bear the thought of.
I don't disagree with this at all. And when you worry more about another team losing than your own team winning, that's when you know you are one salty-a** fan base LOL.
Damnit just when I was about to congratulate the land thieves a couple of asshats do the horns down when Stoops is being interviewed. F-ck OU! We beat them with Derp and Butterteef.
Another game ruined by a coach in deep negotiations with UT. How many NFL playoff games will be ruined because head coaches have their heads stuck in Austin clouds? Postpone all football games until this search ends?
Y'all know this game didn't matter right? These teams haven't even played football in weeks, how stupid is that? Saban knew the game didn't matter. Nobody won anything that means anything. Bama didn't give a ****. OU gave slightly more of a ****. Bama beats OU 88 times out of 100. But its sports, anything can happen on a given night, that's why we play the games. Saban is still God. Or the devil. If anything the loss is an indictment on Kirby Smart, not Saban. I wish I had a reason to watch and enjoy non-title games but there just isn't one. I've become cynical. Bowl season used to be like Christmas, now I'm bored to death. I wish CFB was over already. Nothing matters and everyone knows it. You get your free iPod regardless of if you win. Almost no conclusions can be drawn from a bowl game. TAMU kicked OU's ass last year. It didn't mean anything.
Of course - convenient excuse when teams lose. Before the game, the coach was talking about how they wanted to show they were the best team in the country. The players were talking about how they'd be favored over FSU and wanted to be in the national title talk (I guess in the AP poll?). They certainly seemed to care. Why not just say the national championship game doesn't matter either? After all, the title isn't recognized by the NCAA - it's still just a mythical thing. Those teams will have gone just as long without playing a game, etc.
Lol I'm just gonna quote this so this moronic statement can't be edited. Pee pee games and sec and yada yada.
Losing sucks. Every bowl game but the national championship game doesn't matter. Nobody can remember who wont the Sugar Bowl 2 years ago but I could name the last 10 national champions in a second. With that being said, the bowl games are for the fans. It's upsetting when you pay top dollar to go to the game and find out your team isn't as focused as it should be. I think if it was a regular season game then OU wouldn't have a chance. Oh well. I'll give credit when it's due and they beat us and AJ had his worst game of his career. (Also I was talking to my friend and we said that we were waiting on the obligatory TJ Yeldon fumble and sure enough next play it happened. As for our fan base saying that we'd be happier with an Auburn loss? I mean come on. Do you think Texas fans ever root for OU to win? Michigan fans want Ohio State to win? A&M fans want Texas to win? I'll never root for Auburn and I'll be damned with the SEC pride if Auburn wins. I want my team to win and only mine(Selfish, I know) On another note, What do y'all think of Derrick Henry? I've been screaming for his name all year and he finally got consistent playing time and looked pretty good running, catching and blocking. He set every high school rushing record during his career and he's just a true freshman.
The guy is a monster. I'm usually not a big fan of big backs (they often dominate in high school where they are as big or bigger than some of the linemen), but this guy is legit. Last night was the first time I had seen him, but he could easily end up being the best in this recent string of RBs you guys have had.
It has nothing to do with the SEC. OU beat them fair and square, whatever. It just doesn't matter. It's not my fault the game doesn't matter. OU's game against UL Monroe was more important because losing would have resulted in consequences. Losing to Bama? Nobody cares, man. Win or lose, nobody remembers. There's the title game and that's it. Next year we'll get 3 games that actually matter, at least there's that to look forward to.
Feel sorry for you, bub. TAMU got creamed in bowl games against Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Cal, PSU etc... then they clobbered OU and fought back versus a good showing by Duke. I had the same exact feeling after the wins and losses. Didn't care. Nobody remembers any of those games because they don't matter. NCAA should allow redshirts to play during the bowl games and retain their redshirt, that way coaches can play the players that will actually be there next year with no consequences. Did UT really need to compete against Oregon? They should have been playing Swoopes to see what they have for next year. Bowl games are literally the least important games of the year since "every game matters".
It sure as hell matters to the players, coaches and many fans. If a certain segment of fans are so jaded that they don't care, well that's their problem.
These games sure as hell matter. They are pretty much the only games where you can watch top teams from different conferences play each other. They matter for revenue and for end of season rankings and preseason rankings. Pretty juvenile to say that these games don't matter just because you lost. It also made clearer that Saban has trouble playing teams outside of the SEC, particularly spread offenses. Saban is meant for the SEC or Big 10 where emphasis is on power running. If he had to be in the PAC 12 or Big 12, I think his record would include more losses. In my opinion, it's tougher to have an undefeated season against spread offenses than against run-focused teams. Don't forget that Saban also lost to Utah in the Sugar Bowl. Oh wait, I'm not supposed to remember that according to Bear_Bryant since it was meaningless.
