How did KPJ affect the development of youngsters? Name three ways….

Next…. Amen wasn’t drafted just for defense. He was a PG. Sengun wasn’t drafted just for scoring but to do some playmaking. Reed wasn’t drafted just to be a shooter either. So if you want to say we have hadnt success developing our playmakers…. Sure. But don’t lie and say we haven’t been trying to get a PG. it’s the 2020s…. PG don’t need to be a literal guard. Don’t be dense

Clearly we need to make some changes this offseason but we literally tried developing internally.

Something he's been really good at is contracts and contract structures as well as managing the cap.

    Kennard makes $11,000,000

Stone had $1,173,558 in cap space to work with.

How the **** was he supposed to "Pick up Kennard"

You can't just say shiit and disregard the salary cap.

    Agree completely.

Doing nothing was better than wasting assets on a rental.

That rental likely took minutes away from Shepard.

They'll still have all their assets for a bigger deal this offseason. I just hope that deal isn't Giannis.

I kinda get the feeling that this was a screw you from Stone to Ime - you are gonna play Reed Shepard and like it. I'm not giving you any options that take away from that.

Wasn’t DFS signed for more than Kennard?

There is no movement to the offense - its all isolation and one on one garbage.

I was watching the Knicks the other day with Brunson running off of picks & pin downs while others were moving off the ball too.

They get easy, wide open shots .... That's how offense is supposed to be played.

DFS was signed in the offseason.
(I hated the signing, wanted them to sign Ty Jerome instead, while all of Clutchfans told me how DFS was gonna come in and play one of the guard spots and save the day)
Kennard wasn't a free agent, he was traded from the Hawks at the trade deadline - at that time Stone had $1,173,558 in cap space.

    Gotcha

I won’t comment on that then. I will say I hated the signing from the beginning since we went after a player coming off of surgery with a terrible recovery, not to mention he was another “Ime” player and redundant af

This. I don't think a lot of folks realize Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu would have both costed assets and a new contract.

    Yep...

And see that's the thing...That's why Ime can look good with players like Tatum, Brown, Durant....

Those guys are top stars and can consistently create offense all on their own.
None of our young guys are on the level of those guys AND we have bad spacing.

I'd like to see any of our young guys in a better system, and/or with better fits around them.

Without Durant, this team is probably a bottom 3 offensive team this year.

TBH, I've been against bringing Harden back here....But if they aren't going to make a change at coach sign him up so his timeline matches Durant.

Google says Kennard is available this summer. If Stone doesn’t fetch Kennard this summer… I mean… “All fired” indeed!

Why did Stone have 1.1 to work with? I’ll answer, because he f*cked up. There were plenty of us that were looking for the Rockets to add a legitimate backup guard at last year’s deadline. There was absolutely no reason to pay FVV 25m a year when his market was no more than 12-15m. The Adams extension was way too expensive for a guy that hasn’t been able to stay on the court. I was a big supporter of Stone while he was sticking through his plan for the re-build. I supported the signing of FVV and Dillon on their original contracts and agreed that they were instrumental in changing the culture of the team. FVV and Dillon were supposed to be place holders while the young core was developed. Hanging on to FVV and trading for a 37 year old half-court player was contrary to everything we were about before Ime came on board. Signing an injured DFS was idiotic. Not being willing to give up one of our first round picks for a talent like Ayo was also idiotic. Unless we get extremely lucky with the Nets 27 pick, this team is absolutely screwed until at least the 28 or 29 season and that is only if we don’t sell the soul of the team for the broken down shell of Giannis.

I’d love to see what a new GM can do with our player and pick assets. I really hope we don’t let Stone gamble away these assets trying to keep his job. We will be so much worse off on the back end.
