I remember a '79 Oiler playoff game against the Dan Fouts-led/Air Coryell Chargers. In San Diego. Nothing but offense in big doses.
Houston MIA's included Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, and Ken Burrough. I mean, Giff Nielsen wasn't striking fear in anyone's heart and Earl's backup, Rob Carpenter, got off the bus on crutches (ankle) but still played.
I believe we were two touchdown dogs. Fouts already had his plans for Pittsburgh and the AFC Championship game.
An incredible gutsy game by the subs, six interceptions (four by Vernon Perry), and a hell of a defensive effort later, the Oilers headed to a second date to the Steelers for the SB shot. Fouts hates this city to this day. That was his last shot at the ring.
But nobody... NOBODY gave the Oilers a snowball's chance to win.
The Texans may be suspect against NE, but nothing is a lock in the playoffs.
And besides, who doesn't know someone from Boston that doesn't think that's the center of the universe?

This sure brings back a great memory. Too bad it set up another AFC Championship loss against the steel curtain.

Can we not bring up the oilers in the playoffs? We don't need that stigma around here lol

I guess every city has their version of Jon Ennis.

i.e. an ill-informed blowhard just saying stupid stuff to get attention.

    Who cares.

This probably goes in the feedback forum but it would be nice if someone could post our cap situation after this season and moving forward.

I think this is where the GARM is superior in. That and in-depth statistical analysis.

Usually it is better to wait till the offseason to start talking about salary cap and free agency. But the Texans have about $12 million cap space. Their free agents are James Casey, Glover Quin, and Connor Barwin. There's not enough room for major free agent signings except players with major salaries are cut. There are a lot of guys on IR and when they come back, the team might have more depth in some positions than they need to keep on their roster.

It looks like they'll have to build through the draft again.

Have to keep Quin and Casey, Barwin is a tough situation...while he has played poorly during the regular season and tremendously undercut his value...he can be had for a cheap price...

The last time some Texans caught a whoopin that bad (The Alamo), it didn't go very well for the other guys in the rematch (San Jacinto). GO TEXANS!
