The case that I cited the couple was arrested in their bedroom in part because they had a marriage license on the wall proving that they were married in another state. You want to dig up this nonsense about how the state shouldn't be recognizing marriage and that's not what this situation is about. It's about the state recognizing marriage for one group of people and not for another because of who they are. I understand it all quite well. You want to slip in some libertarian nonsense and change the argument to obfuscate what this situation is about. As long as government recognizes marriage, it has no right to deny that to one group of people simply because they're gay.

When people refer to themselves as being married, 99.9% of us understand that's legally married and not that they simply had a wedding without a license.

I am simply putting the blame where it belongs. The blame for all of this belongs to the ones who demand government-recognized marriage. This seems to be the bipartisan agreement in this thread. Find out who these people are (it's mostly Dems) and fight them.

Govt. recognizing marriage wasn't an issue for almost anyone until there was a real possibility of the govt. recognizing same sex marriages.

Show me one initiative in congress to repeal all of the laws that would be necessary for not having the govt. involved? Show me where people wanted to change the tax code, inheritance laws, social security laws, immigration laws, child custody laws, visitation in schools, hospitals, etc. Show the me the initiative about removing govt. recognizing marriage involving health care, life insurance, or any of the other areas where govt. and marriage are intertwined.

And please make sure to show me where it was an issue or movement prior to the possibility of same sex marriage being recognized by the govt.

After you are unable to do that, please realize that the whole idea of the govt. not recognizing any marriage is a pure fantasy, and while I'm fine with working towards that, in the interim we need equal protection under the law for homosexual marriage as well as heterosexual marriage.

That right there is such a double standerd! Why is it okay for you to call my religion "crazy" and "nutty"? But if I was to say that gays are disgusting, perverted, attention craving pigs I would be labeled "close minded"

But have you even opened your mind to Christianity? Maybe you should before you bacons an expert on it.

I apologize for getting a little off topic, but I stopped reading after I saw "crazy" and "nutty"

I'm not openly advocating that your religion shouldn't have the same rights as others.

There's a difference when people, for religious reasons, advocate against gays having equal rights as heterosexuals. That is pretty nutty.

It's nutty to stand up for what you believe?

Man, Martin Luther King was a pshyco then! Abraham Lincoln sure was crazy too!

Whether someone is trying to get equal rights or trying to legalize a currupt and perverted idea of marriage out of the country my kids will grow up in, standing up for what you believe is only "nutty" if it's not what you want to hear!

Wait, are you against gay marriage or interracial marriage? I can't tell, because it's the exact same argument.

If your kids aren't gay, they PROBABLY won't get gay married, so who cares if dick and tom tie the knot? You don't want them to be happy, even though it has zero effect on you, because you insist on imposing your religious views on others.

And if your kids are gay, you'd probably want them to be happy and be able to marry who the want to eventually.

Standing up for what you believe is great, but imposing arbitrary religious rules on people that may or may not subscribe to your beliefs in order to deny them happiness is some sort of weird, sadistic, cultish behavior. I honestly don't get why it matters to Christians.

Do you really think gays cause hurricanes or something?

I have nothing against gay people. I know a couple oh them and we get along fine. But they know how I feel about the way chose to live. The Boble tells Christians to stand for the truth and stand against sin. I stand against homosexuality the same way I stand against p*rnography, or alchahol abuse.

If you disagree with that then that's fine, but that's why we do it.

My point is, people say anyone that is against gay marriage hates gays...

In no way do I hate gay people, I disagree with their choices and I won't be apart of legalizing and allowing gay marriage because I believe it is a sin. The same way I wouldnt be apart of legalizing weed. A sin is a sin, and I will do everything I can to keep things like gay marriage illegal. But that does not mean I hate them. In fact, you can see in that video above that the gay men look far more angry and hateful than the man just setting there reading his bible.

You tell me who is full of hate.

The only sin is denying people the same right you have in the name of religion.

I disagree. And I encourage you to go read a bible and it'll show you why you are wrong.

Honest question: should we outlaw all things that the Bible defines as "sinful"?
