I know nada about Cox but would consider the other two + Cox or someone else. Not sold on Wllsbury. Now, make it Youkalis...

What is the point of Youkillis if we are rebuilding?

This is his 2nd full year. He's described as having AAA talent and an all world heart. Check his #s and see how that translates. I love the guy. He'd plug 3B for the next 10 years.

Yeah, I could build, rebuild, or just plain be a WS contender with that guy.

He'll be 29 before the start of next season and he's played 10 of his 84 games at 3B this season.

I think this team needs a talent infusion, not a guy with AAA talent who's overachieving. For what it's worth, here are his split stats:

Basically, he had one absurdly good month and has otherwise been a decent-to-good player, but not someone you build around. He is really good at getting on base, but has little power and little speed, which really limits his value.

I'm a Youk guy, what can I say. I believe in his value. As to whether he is trade bait for Roy O is a whole other issue.

I agree xiki, I like him a lot too, but I think his value is best suited for a winning team

seriously the astros season this year is over, we just lost to the washington nationals give me a break. we get swept by the cubs before this. there is no chance, that said im sorry but there is a time and place for everything and we need to rebuild despite our attachment as fans to our players. look at the marlins they gutted their whole team for talent and they still been competitive. Free agency is too over priced to buid a contender for the future cause uncle drayton isnt going to spend another dime. we got hometown discounts from pettite and clemens was the only reason we stayed competitive for the past few years. sorry guys there is no clemens coming in to save our days no more....this is reality every team goes through this and sadly its our time. we need to sell high on our players while we can so we can bring in some youngsters to groom with pence and become a force in the future. with biggio retiring this year its time to say good bye to the old days and start all over....this is the only choice we have

It's funny but last night on Baseball Tonight, Steve Phillips was talking about how Boston would be the perfect fit for Lidge. I immediately thought about this post! And I also thought about how we gave up on a young prospect for an old reliever named Larry Andersen who left Boston the very next season. That prospect's name? It was Bagwell. Don't know if I want Jacoby Ellsbury to be the next Bagwell, but I'm sure the Astros fans would like that. :)

With Papelbon and Okijima (and an emergent Delcarmen?), why would Theo want to pay high for Lidge? Righty/Left/Righty makes it a lights out...7th?

I don't know either but after reading the Boston Globe, apparently someone in Boston whether it is Theo or Lucchino or both or someone else (maybe even John Henry) really likes Lidge.

I like Lidge, too. But, a fit in the land where Yankee hatahs abound?
