And yet people were saying all alone "Lebron did ALL alone" "He had no supporting cast" "It was sad because lebron all by himself gave the cavs the best record" "What's wrong with leaving a team with absolutely no talent around him.."
The Cavs were bad without LBJ because Mike Brown was a terrible coach. There was no back up plan if LBJ got hurt or had to miss a game.
Cavs just beat the Eastern Conference champs. That's not horrible. You have the Celtics/Magic/Heat as the East locks. The rest is up for grabs
Yes. Your sig line versus mine. If the Cavs make the Playoffs, you put whatever I want in your sig. If the Cavs don't make the Playoffs, I put whatever you want in my sig. All is good as long as it's within clutchfans rules.
Yeah, but also they really don't have any great players outside of Lebron. They have a bunch of decent players. I'm trying to remember the last time a team like that made the playoffs.
I didn't say anything about their record, I said the team played well without Lebron. It's going to be tough for them to make the playoffs, but the 8th seed in the East is up for grabs imo.
It's one game. I'm not saying the Cavs are going to be the worst team in the NBA, but it's way too premature to come to any conclusions about how good they will be just because they beat the Celtics who were on the 2nd of a back-to-back. The lowly Grizzlies, back when they were a basement dweller, beat the the three-peat Lakers twice in a row. That was easily the worst team beating easily the best team twice.
I agree, they didn't even have Mo Williams either. They will definitely be in the playoffs in the East, less likely if they played in the West however.
apparently, they dont' need mo will or jamison either. boston clearly took this game lightly if you saw the game. they slept-walk through the game and thought they could win.
they were 1-5 w/o lebron last year. so yes, they can win w/o lebron. the question is how much? i'll actually root for them too b/c it's now made up of a team of nobodies and you always cheer for those type of players.
In years prior they had a winning record without Lebron, so that's just one year. Also Byron Scott>>>>Mike Brown. Scott is a true coach, former player with many successes, and is very respected by his players. I'm not even sure if Mike Brown played college basketball.
Just wanted to add that Mike Brown wasn't bad cause he didn't play pro ball, he was bad just because he was bad. No adjustments ever, would make talented players(also Lebron's fault) less talented in his "system".
Great post by a Celtics fan on the Celtics section of RealGM: I agree completely that Magic, Jordan, would have achieved much greater results with the players Lebron had around him, but I think the other factor is also coaching, because Byron Scott is much better than Mike Brown.
While not at me I would happily wager they are. I have been saying it all off season and people laugh at me. The East outside the top 5-6 is just terrible and they have decent young and some experienced players on that team... they will land the 8th spot I believe. $10 or $20 tip jar bet if you wish to take?
Which years would those be? I don't think Magic or Jordan or Bird could have taken the Cavs to over 66 wins. However, they may have gone deeper in the playoffs where teams were able to adjust to the style of play. A lot of that falls on the coaching-- for instance, against the C's last year it seemed obvious that they needed to play Hickson more in place of Shaq to take advantage of the C's old legs. Also, Mo Williams had some horrible series in both '09 and '10 and he pretty much had to be on for the Cavs to compete.
Sounds good to me. I consider this win-win because I would like to see the Cavs make the playoffs, but I don't think they'll do it.
Second bet I have made on it... I don't know why because I hate the Cavs and to be honest I'm more relying on the East sucking and that not having Mike Brown takes some of the Lebron loss out of them... he was a terrible terrible coach.
