tweet about LeBron's announcement not expected to be in one of the cities he's considereing + Bosh having a great day + Funny situation on ESPN with the lady saying something about Houston and having to talk about it off the air = Double SnT with Toronto and Cleveland with Bosh and LeBron going to Houston In that case, piggy backing is awesome
If their priority is for their careers, why have a live press conference for a 'decision'? Not being introduced to a new team (if that's the case), but a 'decision'. I don't remember other superstars having a press conference for this reason.
Stoudemire had a press conference, yesterday. I am sure Joe Johnson will have one, unless it's already done. http://gochitchat.com/2010/07/the-knicks-are-back-amare-stoudemires-press-conference/
From what I understand, it's a conference call, not a press conference. So likely whatever they discuss with each other will not be known or at least publicly announced via the players themselves to the media.
Durvasa's point was directed at everybody whining about how long they are taking, not about press conferences. It is perfectly possible that they care about making a good career decision AND hyping it up. Not saying the hype is a good thing or my cup of tea, but it doesnt mean they don't take the decision and it's effects seriously. And for the majority of those asking why (complaining), read a thread every once in a while. Lately the discussion in threads is pathetic. You have people asking the same questions over and over. If anyone actually tries to answer them, they're usually ignored by most and the questions continue. If you actually want to understand "why this" and "why that", then try joining the conversation and keep a discussion going.
durvasa, I've been patient, at least here (so my b****in' isn't thrown back in my face, lol!), but this is far beyond merely "making the best choice for their careers going forward." It's a carefully orchestrated series of events by their respective agents that is absurdly transparent. What galls me is that when these "decisions" are finally announced, we'll have to read endless paeans of how glorious this all was, how magnificent they all are, how lucky whatever cities is that gets him/them, and so on, and so on, until the collective vomit hurled in disgust by fans of the league overwhelm the efforts to clean up the oil spewing in the Gulf. Look for The Whale to get a new challenge very soon.
This. Next thing you know, it will be crap like "with the 1st pick of the 2010 NBA free agency, Lebron James selects ______." None of the other great free agents had to publicize their decision to this extent. Sure there are those that take longer, think about it, mull over it, and talk it over with other free agents and their friends. Of this I don't doubt. What these three have been doing the past couple of days is bordering on attention-whoring.
I applaud these guys for what they're doing. Sure, its attention whoreish but we're talking about players that can get traded like pieces of property at any time. Its good to see the power in the players hand for a change. Its only business right? If I were them, I'd milk it out for what its worth also.
Voice of reason, as usual. They're going to decide the next 6 years of their life. And those next 6 years are their peak years, when they are still able to carry a team and have a major impact. After that the Durants and John Walls (maybe?) will take over, so this is really deciding the remainder of their relevant NBA years. BTW, no one is forcing any of you to pontificate over what they're doing. You can all check out and come back in a week or whenever the season starts again.
I've scarcely said a word of criticism about how this has been going forward. It is simply becoming an absurdity.
Guess Lebron loves your thinking... Broadcaster ESPN reported Tuesday that James will announce his future NBA plans during a one-hour special on its network Thursday.
Lost in all this is the fact that it's mostly the media that's blowing this up. Take any one of you here that's doing the college thing, let me record your recruiting visits, twitter about what college calls you, which calls you return, and anything in between. When you come back from UT saying how great it felt i'll twitter you're leaning towards being a Longhorn, only to take it back the next day after you enjoyed your visit to UH. Without the media butting in we wouldnt know jack, other than negotiations would start ont he 1st, who met with what teams, and then we'd just hear about their decisions. It's unlikely we'd know who conference called who or anything like that. Keep in mind an overwhelming majority of the news and rumors we hear aren't even coming from the players, or even their agents....
Wow, the NBA used to be soooo much better. Had guys with integrity and did it the right way, no collusion was ever involved. Just be done with this crap already. Im personally more interested in where the middle tier players will start to sign.
