This was the package Lakers traded for Paul Gasol back in 2007: Kwame Brown (expiring contract) Marc Gasol’s draft right (Marc had a MVP season in the Spanish league that year) Javaris Crittenton (lakers’ 07 first round pick) Lakers’ 2008 and 2010 first-round drat pick Rockets could build a better package for Bosh this summer Battier and Jefferies (expiring contract) Sergio Llull’s draft right ( Llull also had a good season in Spain plus Toronto love European players) The 14th pick in the draft (Rockets can pick up someone with high potential and trade him later in the summer ) Jordan Hill (young big man with potential) Any of the three first-round picks Rockets owned in 2011 and 2012 Obviously you don’t have to give Toronto all of them. If Bosh makes up his mind, Morey will use his magic to strike for better deal. Rockets don’t have to take on Turkoglu or Calderon’s bad contracts.
Toronto can get our young talent or we can take back a bad contract, but I don't see Morey doing both.
While it's not wise to assume Jefferson will return to form after 'intense rehab', It's probably smarter to take a wait and see approach then to assume he's the second coming of T-Mac.
I still think the deal that is begging to be made is Bosh and Rubio to houston, Jefferson and Ariza and the Knicks 2011 to Toronto, Hill, Jeffries, Anderson, our #14 pick this season, along with the choice of our pick or the Knicks pick next season to Minny.
People refuse to read or believe this. Toronto can't sign Bosh and package him with other players in a trade. Bosh and Hedo won't happen because it can't happen.
Teams agree to make parallel deals that don't make a whole lot of sense if you just look at each one individually. There are ways to make it work.
You mean like Landry was in the redshirt year that he sat out following his ACL tear? I'm sure you believe it was a big mistake paying for Landry's draft rights
I have a very strong feeling some kind of trade will happen between the raptors and rockets that would land us bosh...we just have to be patient and wait
The Rockets would not do that deal. Everything Morey has been saying on the radio is that we need to regain our defensive prowess. That trade would be getting rid of every defensive stalwart on our team bar Lowry and Yao; we wouldn't do that for any single player. If any trade goes down, I agree one of Battier and Ariza are likely to go, but I feel like the administration still likes Ariza, and Battier has more value to a tanker team as an expiring. You guys have all seen Morey negotiate. These kinds of bluff-or-fold deals never end poorly for the Rockets. Morey will hold his cards until Toronto gives up on trying to unload Turkoglu. No one can beat our assets with or without including Hedo anyhow. Can you imagine a team with ~30M in assets and expirings to give up just for Bosh? Not happening nowhere.
It was widely agreed that that was one of the stupidest moves (for Memphis) a team had ever made in recent years. Everyone and their mother was joking, "Thank you Memphis for handing them the Championship". It wasn't until a whole year later where ppl relented that yeah, it was actually decent deal and little Gasol did pan out. However, the equivalent in your suggested trade, Hill, has no where near the hype that Marc Gasol did, nor does he have a big bro you can potentially compare to and go hey, maybe all-stars run in the family. Llull is the one wild card I could definitely see Spanish brethren Calderon trying to sell the Raptors on but it's still not an equal comparison. The Raptors aren't as desperate as the Grizzlies were. The Raptors just missed the playoffs this year where as the Grizzlies then had the 3rd worst record in the NBA that season. Given that, the Raptors can and will ask for more and I believe it's highly unlikely for any team to get away with trading for Bosh without including at least one of their best players. For us, I see Brooks or Scola as a minimum in a Bosh trade.
I think it's easier to replace the Hill, Ariza and Battier's of the world, or dump bad contracts like Hedo than it is to get players like Bosh. If he wants to come to the Rockets, I am all for Morey going for the gusto. They may not be a very good defensive team, but their offense would be one of the best in the league from day one if they snagged Bosh.
