This reminds of when we got Charles, there had been rumors for years about the Rox interest in Chuck but no one ever thought it could happen until we got swept out by Seattle and it was obivous a change was needed. It's sad to look back and remember Horry and Sam's last game as a Rocket but when the bomb hit...oh boy was it an explosion. This has me thinking about that time period all over again, there is more then just smoke here your starting to see fire building in the distance.
There is simply no effing way I'm taking Hedo unless I'm getting something even more than Bosh, like the Raptors first rounder for next year. Hedo's contract is one of the worst in the league, the guy needs the ball, he was a total locker room cancer for the Raptors last year, he doesn't care, etc. etc. Add that we would actually have to give up someone useful to make salaries match, and just no.
T-Mac and Yao were 20+ scorers last year, and look where they are now. It's about what a player can do for us now, not what they did in '08-'09.
Hedo would fit nicely here. We don't really have a great play-making point guard, and Hedo has proven he can play the point-forward position. On the other hand, I don't really want us to lose Scola or have him come off the bench. The guy hustles too much and is too good of a player for that to happen, but then again, getting Bosh is really enticing.
Point without T-Mac. Jefferson isn't 23/11 player after his injury, but a 17/9 player after his rehab.
Yao/(Brad Miller?) Bosh/Scola/Hayes Hedo/Budinger Martin/Taylor Brooks/Lowry that team would be insanely good, but incredibly unlikely. I have never been on the Bosh boat, but if the Rockets are not giving up Scola or Brooks, it would definitely be worth it.
Jefferson is a very good player, just not as good as Bosh. He would be a good plan B. But, Bosh is better and could be had by giving up less, so I say go for him first. The difference when it comes to acquiring them is that with Bosh, it's convincing him to come here, and with Jefferson it's convincing Minnesota to trade him.
On taking Hedo: He might fit Adelman's system very well and flourish in the offense, but I agree with posters who think it would detract significantly defensively. Maybe we can survive for a year, but when he slows down in the latter part of his contract he'll be really hard to cover for. I think that's ultimately why we don't take him, because his contract is too long. Morey has shown a willingness to take back big contracts (e.g. Jeffries), but not long. On Trading Hill: This kid might be special one day, but I think he has very little chance of being Chris Bosh good. Yeah he can jump, has a nice outside shot and a good put back hook shot, but something about the way he moves is weird. He's looks like a stiff, but an athletic stiff...can't explain it. Definitely not as fluid as someone like Amare or Bosh. For this reason I don't ever really see him developing the variation in post moves necessary for him to be great...
Bosh is a better PnR defender. He is not a post scorer, but a face up guy like Amare and Landry. They are both good rebounders. Bosh fits better with this team than Jefferson.
Jefferson is not as good a rebounder, after he tore his ACL. He doesn't have the same explosiveness. Some games, you can see he just trying to survive on his knees. Other games, it's like you got the pre-ACL injury Al. Bosh is a better choice than Jefferson, based on the Rocket's front court injury problems alone.
he played 4 fewer minutes and took 5 less shots per game. but the main problem for jefferson was kurt rambis' change in offensive system, going away from the halfcourt offense that jefferson used to thrive in. in any case, jefferson has already dedicated himself to heavy rehab and workouts this offseason in order to get back to his pre-injury level, workouts with hakeem the dream no less. to put this guy in the same sentence with t-mac is a joke.
