Bosh trade would be great, but not so sure with Hedo in the mix. I have to agree with other posters that his price is too high and will tie up our future. Maybe we can trick Bosh with Hedo coming over and move Hedo to NY for their 1st round pick in 2013. Bosh will get over if once he is embarrassed as a Rocket by Clutchfans and wins a championship in 2011.
Why would the Raptors take that deal? http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=OffseasonPredictions09-BoshFuture They could get some really good players from some of those teams, while Bosh could hold out and become get a max deal from some of the other ones.
Les has agreed to pay the tax NEXT year, but taking Hedo and Bosh, paired with the salaries of Martin and potentially a max Yao contract would mean we are paying it for the next 3 years minimum, and probably more (at least if we plan on having any depth whatsoever). And without looking at the figures, we would probably be WAY over the threshold with the likes of the Lakers. I don't know if Les would commit to that.
Really? I dunno.... Hedo was an assassin in the playoffs last year and I like his game, but let's look at the numbers from this season. Ariza played 72 games, Hedo played 74 games, . Ariza led our team in assists 15 times this season, Hedo led the Raps 14 times. Ariza avg'd 3.9 Apg, Hedo 4.1 Apg. I agree with giving Trevor the "chukker" label. Ariza took 999 shots to Hedo's 674. BUT, when Martin got here Ariza's FGA per game went down, and his attempts are bound to go down again upon the return of the Great Wall. My opinion is that you keep Trevor because he's younger, cheaper, and plays on both ends. Plus this was the first year he has been asked by his team to be a play maker, and he'll only improve with time to grow.
If we could snag Bosh without having to give up our serious trade assets and only have to take back a bad contract I would be doing backflips. Battier + Andersen + Hayes + Jeffries for Bosh/Hedo is close. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Budinger Ariza/Hedo Bosh/Scola Yao/Hill But more importantly if Amare and Boozer resign with Jazz/Suns, Wade might suddenly become available with the lack of "dynasty" he has been promised from Riley for the past 3 years. You could be in a position to offer Martin + Hill for Wade and then the fun really begins! Brooks/Lowry Wade/Budinger Ariza/Hedo Bosh/Scola Yao/ (14) It would be super expensive for one year, but we could not resign Yao when his contract is up and still have a fantastic team going forward. The only problem is a huge tax hit next year and Bosh supposedly hating Hedo.
The below cap teams won't be offering them squat beyond a TE, draft pick (minus the Knicks), and maybe a young player. They almost certainly wouldn't touch Hedo in any scenario. Dallas has Dampier to send along with Terry. Hill, Knicks pick, Shane, and Jefferies is a decent offer and competitive with the rest. You could certainly argue Dallas takes the lead if Hedo is forced into the deal - they don't have to send 5 players to balance things out. At the same time, they can't offer anything with as much upside as the Knicks pick or Hill. Just a low draft pick and washed up former almost all-stars. Evan
Richard Justice spoke about this today on 1560 with John and Lance. Justice does speak with Morey on a regular bases so I do take his word on it. He did report that Morey was trying to acquire Ricky Rubio. He stated that Morey will be there at Chris Bosh's house at 12:01AM to talk to him about wanting to come to Houston. He said that Morey and his team was already working on some videos for him to see. He went on to talk about how Houston probably has the best offer out there to make a SnT work. He talked about how Colangelo and Morey are really good friends and Bryan Colangelo has interest in Jordon Hill and Sergio Llull. But Justice did make a great point that I've been trying to make. There's two parties you have to please. So if Morey can convince Bosh to come to Houston, you still have to please Toronto. Toronto doesn't want to lose him empty-handed. At least in Houston, Bosh can be the "man" here.
About the 12:01 a.m. thing... one question I have is how often do multiple GMs line up in front of a guy's house at the same time, and if so, how does the FA sort out who to see first? Seems awkward to me... maybe everyone (i.e. the teams and agents) sort things this kind of stuff out ahead of time to avoid awkwardness?
I pretty much value Llull as a zero right now, so this is the best news to me personally. I love Hill, losing him sucks, but oh well.
Hedo actually might work in the Rockets system but there is no way Morey takes him on in order to get Bosh. There is 48million reasons why you say no. Plus, Hedo would only really work if the offense is centered around Yao like when Hedo played for the Magic last year with Howard, and there is no way you can guarentee Yao will be the focal point of 90% of our plays for 5 years. -on the other hand, i have a bad feeling about letting Jordan Hill go so soon. I know he is no Bosh, but if he develops well over the summer he could be exactly what we need in a post player with a high ceiling. And you dont have to shell out a max contract for him.
I agree totally. I like bosh by himself, but combined with the personnel we have, I don't see it. I know Yao changes shots, but who is protecting the paint with this lineup? I think if you land Bosh, you let Yao go after this year. YAO BOSH is the least scary frontcourt of perennially all nba players I can think of.
you can tell that Wade is out of their, even if they acquire a big time free agent, they still missing SF, PG, and C, so I don't think wade will be a heat next year.
Hedo is fine on offense but trading him for Ariza would make our already questionable perimeter defense downright atrocious. Yao is not the eraser Dwight was and Bosh isn't known for defensive prowess either. If we acquire Hedo we would have to find some other position to upgrade defensively and also acquire players who fit with Hedo's point forward style on offense.
