I have the bad feeling bosh or jefferson is going to the spurs. Jefferson has 1 year left and they have splitter on the back burner. Jefferson, splitter, and their pick this year for bosh. Now they would have the duncan/robinson deal over again except duncan has more gas in the tank than robinson did.
We can offer the Raptors or Wolves better assets. We have our own 1st rounder and New Yorks picks. Also we can offer them young talent in return. What young talent to the Spurs have? All I can think of at the top of my head are Blair and Hill, but why would they want to part with them? We also have expiring contracts, something the Spurs lack. We can trump any offer the Spurs match.
The spurs can offer richard jefferson, hill, and the best big in not in the nba in Splitter. That would give them a chance to move calderon and field a very international team with splitter and bargiani along with hill and derozen. I think the spurs offer look better if they indeed get in the sweeps.
What better way to salve the wounds of demoralized fans than to acquire a M.I.P. in return for your exiting superstar.
I don't think that's a very good package at all. We can outbid the Spurs, easily, but Morey's too smart to get into a bidding war unless he's the one offering the coveted player. We're too fixated on Bosh. Perhaps Morey has other ideas, such as a certain Euro guard who's not eager to play second fiddle in the land of the lakes.
More Bosh opinions, more people saying he'll leave in a sign-and-trade: http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-freeagency-100423/chris-bosh Lovin' the idea of a starting line of: C Yao Ming PF Chris Bosh SF Trevor Ariza SG Kevin Martin PG Aaron Brooks
I would love to have this starting lineup, I just think the Rockets won't be able to keep it intact in a sign and trade for Bosh
Gotta give up Ariza? Fine, replace with Battier. Gotta give up Brooks? Fine, replace with Lowry. Either way, it still looks great.
So the million dollar question's are: ???? 1. where do we rank in terms of teams Bosh wants to play for -maybe we are not even on the list -best case in top three -could he win a championship here in his first year? 2. What "assets" would we have to give up in the S&T -what does toronto want from us? Draft picks?, young talent?, role player? -would we give up a major player or players that are cruicial to us winning? -How do we rank in the asset department compaired to Chi, Miami, Etc...? *basically my assumption is that we are in the top 3 or 4 teams, and we are competitive at best in terms of assets to knock over Toronto with. Its worth a shot to deal with Toronto but its basic supply and demand for a high demand low supply product, and with Wade and Lebron most likely staying in town, the demand will drive the price sky high. Anyone that can prove to me why all these obstacles work in our favor, feel free to challenge me, but I believe Morey and Alexander are too smart and business savvy to get in a bidding war for this guy.
I'd keep Brooks and trade Lowry instead. We can always pick up a back up point guard, but Brooks is special.
I know, I was just trying to put in prespective of Houston's point of view. I think Toronto would want to have Brooks a part of the package.
Haha! Idiot Bruce Bowen thinks Bosh is gonna stay in Toronto. He thinks they are going to build around him and sign some free agents. News Flash Bowen: Toronto doesn't have the cap space to re-sign Bosh AND get another free agent!
