This is the package we should offer plus a pick & cash. Brooks,Scola,Ariza,Cook (to make it match $$) Plus future pick and CASH. Obviously they will push hard for Landry but I think cash + future pick can help offset that. Brooks: Really everyone is in love with him right now because honestly other than Landry he is our only true go to guy in crunch time. The reason why he is scoring in volume is because Yao,T-mac,Artest on not on the team.. Would he even have this many shot attempts if 2 out of 3 were still playing? Brooks is a shoot first pass 2nd pg.. We won't need a shoot first PG if we have Yao, Bosh, Budinger, Landry + whoever we can pick with a T-mac trade. Remember people that the best ball distributer was actually Will Conroy during the summer league.. (You'll understand below) Scola: Hopefully it will be him and not Landry Ariza: He really is a poor shooter.. Look at his HISTORY!!!! He's never been that good of a 3pt shooter yet this team wants him to be one? Why? He's a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE 3pt shooter, his ball handling skills are definitely below average, and his FG% isn't all that.. Not to mention that he's eating up Budgingers playing time which I think is the better player in the long run. Let Chase develop now!!! Cook: Have to add him because the trade only works with him in.. Besides he's an expiring contract. Cash + Pick: This is what I think will ice the deal for Toronto.. Darryl Morey moved (actually traded) Will Conroy to the Vipers (Houston D-League) That is a fact! And this morning ( yes this morning ) can't remember if it was on 610 or 790.. The Vice President of Player Personnel/General Manager Rio Grande Valley Vipers.................................. Gersson Rosas spoke about how Will Conroy was recently acquired and that the move was fantastic for the Rockets Organization in case 1 of our 2 PG got injured or if there were any other situation... READ that... ANY OTHER Situation?? If that isn't a blatant hint I don't know what is. I think the Love for AB is dually noted but he's not a player we need if we are going to acquire the scoring punch in Bosh + Yao + T-mac trade. Then you still have Landry and Bundinger as a scoring threat off the bench.
I agree. It's kind of scary..knowing how well Lowry plays, and being a true point gaurd- I can actually see the possibilty of losing Brooks in a trade involving an 'Elite' player..Lowry does appear to be moving the offense more fluent than Brooks does..and if Brooks were to get traded..expect the likes of Bosh, Igoudala, Wade, Butler, and Martin to join this team..possible but HOPEFULLY, unlikely..
Lowry can't start with Yao/Bosh. He can't shoot the 3, so he can't capitalize on the space created by the bigs. Lowry is far more efficient in a running offense.
I'm almost 80% sure it will be Brooks.. If we were really somehow in the race for Bosh and able to still keep T-mac in a trade... When your a GM you have to think about future salaries.. What do you think AB will command? He's an exceptional PG with a skill you cannot teach (speed).. He not going to command MLE money!! He's going to command big money starting from 8.5 - 9.5 million the first year alone (Think Jason Terry from Dallas who is coming off the bench).. We can't have that money tied up in our PG if were going to have YAO (resigned for god knows how much) + Bosh + Landry ( This is where I want some of AB money to go too ) + T-mac trade...
Lakers can drive this deal, whether they are serious or it's only a rumor, and come out ahead. If the Rockets think (or Toronto convinces them) that Bosh is going before the deadline and also think the Lakers seem serious about bidding against the Rockets, then LA comes out ahead. (Rockets might knee-jerk a deal giving up more than they should -- Lakers force the issue -- and no matter if the Rockets get Bosh, they likely shred the fabric of this team. It hasn't been lost on LA just how competitive this group of Rockets players are. A chance to poke holes in this lineup is probably enjoyable sport for their management.) DM should NOT be coerced into making an over-the-top deal. I don't think the Lakers give up just Bynum for Bosh. If there is any, so-called, competition between LA and Rox in a Bosh "sweepstakes", don't "buy" on impulse. Don't give up the farm when it probably isn't necessary. Unless Toronto has really dumb management, they won't trade to LA just for Bynum. Of course, the Gasol deal indicates there may be quite a few inept GM's out there. As I've posted before -- My gut says no on this. Obviously, just my opinion, though, since quite a few here would have us trade quite a bit for Bosh. Not me. If we give up Landry and/or Brooks, Battier, Scola, I don't think we suddenly become contenders with LA. Bosh is good but I don't think he commands a multi-player return at the levels of talent being mentioned from the Rockets. We have good players with still a lot of upside to be developed. Besides, I think it is somewhat a slap in the face to the players who have been busting their behinds. I don't expect to get something for nothing, but DM has found ways to improve without spending nearly as much as another GM might have spent. Don't buck the trend now.
I am not sure of others, but after all the years of suffer with PGs like Maloney, Price, an old Mark Jackson, Rafer Alston, Head, etc., Brooks is a heavenly sigh of relief. Not since the days of the Jet and Sam I Am have I felt confident in our PGs having the ball in their hands for a drive or shooting an open shot. Francis is the exception, but Francis was a high volume shoot-first PG. Brooks on the other hand can be a deadly and efficient shooter and can basically get to the basket or FT line any time. Remember that when Yao comes back, we need to have people who can spread the floor as much as we can and I am not sure if Lowry shooting will allow us to do that. While the PF position has been almost just as bad at times for the Rockets, the failures of past Rocket PGs have left a very bad taste in the mouth of Rockets fans. So it explains why so many fans are hesitant to let Brooks walk away.
Aren't you forgetting one important thing in your scenario? T-mac wasn't part of that package.. We still have a chance for more impact players better or as at least equal to Battier,Scola,Landry for T-mac..
You need to look at current PG salaries... Say Brooks is a top 15 PG (I think top 10) What are the salaries?? Let me help you. Go to Google and type NBA salaries.. AB will command that type of money..
He's an average (maybe slightly below average) PG in the league, which is top 15-18. An average PG doesn't command $9 million. He's on par with a Bibby or a Felton, who make around $6 million a year.
Imo Brooks is the ideal reason Rockets are surving with out t-mac and yao, take him out of the line-up Rockets would really struggle score.
Possibly... but then you have to factor in the learning curve of Adelman's system AND hope you get true "blue collar" guys like we now have. I still say, "No thanks." Way too many coaches and trainers have recognized and commented on the special thing going on in Houston right now. Sure there are no "superstars". Bosh is being made out like he is a superstar. I disagree. Just me, though. In the end it's "What do DM and LA think?"
Lets see, u get a chance to get a 22 yr old 7ft er with a huge upside vs a really productive 30 yr old pf and a guy that needss articles to show his production who is also 31. Which would u choose?
...which doesn't exactly spell out his market value. He is what we thought he is - nothing more, nothing less.
He is what we need, for now anyways... he's by far the best offense we have on the perimeter which opens things up for battier and ariza who can't create.
