Sure most of us here all want a healthy Yao Ming back. But like you said, You're realistic.....so lets be realistic, a healthy Yao Ming isn't going to happen. Chances of Bosh coming to Houston are slim. But if the Rockets can somehow land Chris Bosh, he can easily replace Yao Ming. You can say Chris Bosh is soft but so is Yao Ming. The things that makes Bosh better than Yao is that he is younger and still have room for improvement, better all around player, better scorer, better rebounder, and he can stay healthy.
I'm surprised at the lack of AB talk in these trade scenarios. Seems to me that with Bosh, Martin, Yao, and Bud as our primary offensive weapons, AB's Offensive abilities and defensive liabilities are needed. Lowry is a much better option to start in a line up that includes Martin, Battier/Ariza, Bosh, and Yao -- not to mention that our chances of getting Lowry to sign with us (is he restricted or unrestricted?) will hinge heavily on him getting a more prominent role. Lowry should start over AB. Just like Carl exploding at the beginning of the year and increasing his value to potential trade partners, AB's Most Improved Player season will make him valuable trade bait to Toronto or someone else. I'd put the chances of AB staying through the next trade deadline are less than 50-50
Maybe because most posters are smarter than this.......no need to trade our best player for Bosh when Toronto has no leverage. DD
AB is hardly our best player. Toronto's leverage would be giving us Bosh -- if it took trading Brooks to get Bosh, it should happen in a heartbeat. Brooks' defensively liability next to Martin is going to kill us against the better backcourts in the league.
No reason to give up Brooks, Toronto has zero leverage. This is the thing see, Chris Bosh is an UNRESTRICTED free agent, he gets to CHOOSE where he wants to go. This whole Bosh thing is silly......unless he suddenly says...Hey, I am going to Houston....it is just wishful thinking. DD
Fair enough. I was thinking more in terms of offering an appealing package to Toronto to get them to agree to ship Bosh, but if they're just looking for any compensation for a departing Bosh, then you're right, no need to dangle Brooks. I still think we should ship Aaron while he's hot (MIP award, a season where he was our primary offensive weapon much of the time) in order to get maximum value. With Shane on the decline as a defensive stopper, and Ariza somewhat unproven, I think we need to cut the fat, defensively speaking.
Brooks is getting better and better, why would you trade a 20ppg scorer when he has only started one year? This whole trade trade trade mindset is silly, teams with a high degree of turnover leave in the first round year in and year out. We have a great core, ride it and add to it.... DD
Because he has a pixie body and will never develop into even an average PG defender. He's also starting next to Martin. Because his explosiveness is the type that usually peaks pretty early and declines rapidly. Because Lowry wants to start. Because the money he demands when he becomes a free agent won't be worth it. Because we can get maximum value for him in the next 6-9 months.
